It takes about 4 weeks to work and is not guaranteed to, but about 1/3 people will be helped
Not wishing to sap your confidence, but I've been on Sertraline for a month now & I'm certain it's not helping me.
it can take up to 4-6 weeks to feel the full affect of the upped dose. If you don't feel any difference talk to your doctor. Sometimes your symptoms can get worse before they get better during this time so don't lose heart. Good luck!
I need sertraline 50mg to have a decent effect. It takes, as others have said, over a month to take effect and before that it can actually make you feel worse. Tiredness is possibly due to the sertraline (take it before bed), but also the effects of all that anxiety - that you are now feeling because you aren't so wired. The sertraline itself isn't a 'cure', for me it just takes the edge off the anxiety and depression enough for me to work more successfully with other methods e.g. CBT.
