I've been asked to be my friend's bridesmaid but I suffer quite strongly from social anxiety and struggle to be around people. I'm worried about the hen night/bacholarette party. Nothing has been planned yet but I don't really know any of her friends and I'm worried I'm going to feel very panicky and uncomfortable. I'm rubbish at socialising so it's not like I can easily get to know people and join in when I'm there. I want to ask her if my sister can come along with me as they have met and it would help me enjoy the night without feeling worried and down right panicky. I'm wondering if this would be a normal thing to do. I understand that this is her hen night/bacholarette party and it's not up to me to just invite people. Or would it seem normal for me to invite my sister? I'm not really sure what the norm is for this particular event. could someone give me advice?

If the bride likes you enough to want you as a bridesmaid, then I'm sure she'd want you to be happy at the hen party.. Just ask her, the worst that can happen is that she says no - does she know about your anxiety issues? I would hope, if you explain how you feel she would be understanding..
