Hi all my problem at the moment is exercise, wheneevr my heart rate increases it takes me back to the time i was rushed with a rapid heart rate, i didnt know it at the time but it was a panic attack. So whenever i go for a jog or run up the stairs even, it puts me into a state of severe anxiety, has anyone else had this? if so what is the best way to overcome it?

I have! You overcome it mostly by knowing that it's just symptoms, it will notkill you. Anxiety is tricky and will make you feel like you're dying but you're not. I will keep you in my prayers.

Best wishes to you

I just walked briskly a second ago and it was going fine then I got some brief chest discomfort. How can we just ignore this! I know something must be up. All day long chest tightness and left arm pain. Can't have long to go!

Oh so not true Sandy1710. Like Kenya40 stated, it's our mind putting that thought in us. If it were your right arm, would you worry as much?

Chest tightness is just that, tightness of the muscles we hold so rigid as we are walking, running or just sitting. Anxiety has that power, that control and we need to release that control and in that will come the release of the tension in our muscles.

Saying to yourself, oh no, not again, too busy for this nonsense and then put your thoughts and energy into something else will help the symptoms to go away. You will be okay Sandy..

But are we sitting rigidly and walking rioidly even without knowing it? I don't feel as if I sit/lay/walk any differently to before? "Anxiety" has absolutely killed me! :(

Believe me, we are tense all the time even when not knowing it. Our mind controls those unconscious reactions to our body.

That happened to me on a long bike ride. It was hot and my heart started freaking out. But I kept going. Rode 25 miles till it started raining really hard, the we had tp ride back. I hated it the whole time. But I survived.

Sandy - I have been through this very same issue not that long ago. You will make it through this and can come out stronger for what you are going through. If you would like to know the steps I took to cure this disorder send me a message and I will spend some time sharing with you what you can do to beat this.

If you now that you what you had was a panic attack and you know that your heart level will naturally go up in beats when you walk or do any sort of activity then why do you get afraid? Or better yet, what is it that you are afraid of? Is it having a heart attack?

From my own experience, I have come to realize that if I was going to have a hart attack I would have already with the amount of chest pain/pressure, left arm pain, back pain, jaw pain etc.

I have had all the tests done and still felt them all.

My cardiologist was aware of my anxiety and gave me ibuprofen 3 times a day for 2 weeks. And of course the pains went away. Which means I had the pain not because of cardiac reasons but because of muscle and the tension.

Don't be afraid. You actually do a dis-service to your heart if you dont work out.

Your body mechanics are a work of art (God created it ) So your body will do what it needs to make sure you are OK.

When I was in a bad way I couldn't do anything to raise my heartbeat. Just try easy stuff like walking or biking and when it gets boring move on to bigger challenges. You're heart will hit a point where It cant go any faster even if you have a panic attack while in a full sprint. it just will take abit longer to return to normal. Think about soldiers hitting a beach while scared beyond anything we could imagine. they're able to sprint and fight without dying from the fear. They sadly die in many ways but not from sprinting while scared.

I have experienced the same many years, I must say. However, if we can somehow ignore the feeling or concentrate on something else while we are doing those things its easy to overcome it. Don't worry. You are definitely not alone and no harm will happen to you.Take care and all the best.
