I think it's more to do with having a legit excuse to "switch off". Everything slows down or stops at night giving us a chance to switch off til the morning. Day time I find trying to calm and switch off too hard as there's usually so much i need to be doing or should be doing and feel guilty if i can't.

I've been wondering lately if there is such a thing as the opposite to SAD.. people who get down in winter. When the summer comes around, long bright days we are supposed to be pictures of health and free spirited summer time euphoria. And the lead up to summer is all about getting in shape and looking fantastic. I don't feel this and I find I struggle with depression between April and June every year.. It might just be me lol x

Hello Laura :-)

I think most suffering with anxiety have one part of the day which they feel more relaxed and you are obviously a night time person :-)

Maybe you feel safer in an evening , pressure may feel lifted , the thoughts you have got through another day and can now take a sigh of relief , I say enjoy the feeling , try and focus on it and even if just an hour during the day try and get that feeling and extend on it :-)

Take Care x

Because your cortisol levels (stress hormone) are highest in the morning and slowly wear off during the day so by night you feel better. My psychiatrist told me this.
