Been given a prescription for this, however I've read a lot about it making people worse and making them feel sick etc which will make the anxiety even worse! I'm so confused on Wether to start taking these or not, if I don't will my symtoms pass or I'm I going to need something to get through it?

Fluoxetine for health anxiety?
I'm in the same boat as you, I have been giving Setraline to start on for anxiety & panic attacks but I'm anxious to take them as its common to get side effects eg dizziness, more anxious etc which I don't want but I know in the long run they will help me so I'm going to bite the bullet & start them tonight. I would give them a try & after a few days if you feel worse on them contact your doctor & see what they say. Good luck!
stuart1985a, I know what you are going through, that is why I never look up or read the insert of a new drug. There is not one drug on the market that will say "Completely Safe" rather the drug companies are protecting themselves by stating what some side effects may be. Your doctor is the best judge of what is right for you according to your health history. As Ldoc said, it you feel worse on them, call your doctor. Nothing gained, nothing lost. Of course, you could struggle along and try to do this on your own, but the meds are just that little nudge you may need to take control once the med is helping you.
Hi stuart1985a, I have been on fluoxetine for about 9 years now and the only side effects I have had is sleepiness, but it has helped me tremendously in controlling my anxiety, mind you it doesn't mean to say that you will not get any side effects as everyone is different, if it is worrying you have a word with your GP who should advise you more. Also ask about attending any groups near to you that help people with this awful mental illness, I found it helped talking to people who have or are still suffering from Anxiety. I also found it helpful to find a non stressful hobby, for instance I do Jigsaw puzzles and I can lose myself in them which takes my mind off being stressed. Hope you do feel better soon
