I have read many times on this site the nomenclature used such as 'depersonalisation', 'derealisation'', and I am pains to understand exactly how and why these have been used as a diagnosis. I have been under psychiatric care for longer than I could care to imagine, thirty two years or so, and I have never once encountered these 'conditions'. Having said that, there are medications available for depression, major or minor, you could ask your GP or psychiatrist about. Please bear in mind that all anti-depressants take up to eight weeks before they begin to work. Patience is the keyword.

The only thing that I found that worked is running! Also relaxation tapes. Mainly running though!

There are no medications currently approved to treat depersonalization/derealization, but certain medications used to treat depression or anxiety could help, such as Fluoxetine. But what's even more effective is if you combine medication, psychotherapy (CBT), and exercise. This combination of the three has been shown to be the quickest form of treatment and continued exercise has been proven to help prevent relapse. Hope that helps and I hope you feel better.

Sounds crazy, but the only time I get derealization is when I don't drink enough water.. When I'm not dehydrated its not there, might be different for you but it worth trying!
