Please help! Out of nowhere I keep getting dizzy and lightheaded!! Especially when I'm sitting down. Is this an anxiety symptom? Weird this is it starts when I'm not even feeling anxious then it makes me anxious. I've had a lot of blood work done and ct scan a year ago and it came back clear. Could anxiety cause me to be so dizzy ??

Could it be inner ear trouble? I'd see a doctor and maybe get referred to a ENT specialist to rule it out. You may have an ear infection. That's one possibility.

I also get dizzy and lightheaded to the point I have been unable to write my name and so shaky. It is very scarey and until recently on this site thought I was going to be certified and and admitted.

Hey girl... I've had this feeling for a month now. I just woke up one day and felt lightheaded. Ever since it hasn't gone away. I've undergone lots of medical evaluations including blood work, ct scan, MRI, ear and eyes specialist, neurology, and nothing so far. All I have left is cardiologist and phsycologist. Best advice for now it's let anxiety take over. It can't physically harm you. Just accept it and be aware the attacks are over in 10 to 20 mins at most. Don't fight it, your fighting yourself the natural response of your body of adrenaline just seat down or lay down and tell yourself don't freak out this is yours your creating this and it will go away. It will not have a physically harming side effect. I know it sounds crazy but it's true and somewhat it has help me. A walk, run or a shower helps me tremendously as well. Feel better darling. Know your not alone.

Thank you girl for the reply! I really do appreciate it! I'm feeling a little bit better. I notice when my mind is occupied I don't really feel dizzy but as soon as I let my mind wonder then I start to feel dizzy so I just have to tell myself that it is definitely all in my head

I have dizziness everyday. I had one day this week that I had nothing. Lightheadedness and dizziness are anxiety. The fact that it happens sitting down confirms that even more. If it was exertion induced then u know it could be something else (heart) related. For me I gave found alcohol more than two drinks helps for the night but the next day anxiety big time. If u smoke stop for 30 days. It could be nicotine. I say 30 days because your first week u can get lightheadedness from withdrawal. Finally coffee. If u drink it reduce it. Sugar keep close eye on sugar. But do these things one at a time so u can see which one is the cause. If any. That is of course if all health is good. Last look at what causes u stress. Try and eliminate it and or reduce it. I am in the process myself. Best of luck and I agree anxiety is us doing it to ourselves. U must accept, then confirm yourself your ok. Breath deep and slowly exhale. Get out of your head or just repeat I'm ok while u breath. Lastly take yourself to a place u remember that was a good and happy time. A gift from years past. Anything that makes u smile and try and remember ever detail u can. How u felt, time, who was there, what u were wearing, smells in the air, what u ate that day. U get my drift. This does work from time to time. The key is the details. This will help take your mind elsewhere.

I'm sorry this so long. I hope I helped. It sucks not feeling like yourself.

Been dealing with this on and off for two years.

Best of luck & best wishes

I never drink coffee and I dont smoke, never done drugs, however alcohol now and again. Recent divorce, youngest child decided to move in with her dad, court hearings for child application and finances (she is13), written off work for 3 months, back last week, phased in. Havnt had menstrual cycle since she left. went into shock and shut down, however I am 47 .... so could be the big M word although coincidental.

Hi! What are you doing when you are sitting? Watching tv, reading a book, sitting at the table or possibly on the computer...Our eyes have something to do with our balance as well as our ears. We may not be feeling anxious but something we are doing can trigger a moment in our mind that can make us dizzy as well as lightheaded.

I've had it happen to me and it is scary enough to bring on a true anxiety.

Usually I'm just sitting down at work doing nothing but talking to people. It just hits me out of nowhere it's so weird.

Hi dear. I wish I knew the answer to why it happens. I am a people person but for some reason, I get so internally excited while I'm talking whether on the phone or in person. It prompts me to get dizzyheaded. I've caught myself holding my breathe at times while I'm talking to someone. Lately, it's made me not want to answer the phone or talk with anyone. It's crazy. My doctor says it's anxiety but he doesn't say how to get rid of that terrible feeling. I wish you better days. Take care.

I've been lightheaded for over a month now and I'm currently undergoing lots of test. Not knowing has driven my anxiety and depression up the roof. I totally know how you feel

I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with this, but wouldn't wish it upon anyone. It's horrible. I have been told it could be my eyes, so I got my eyes checked and they were fine, I also got told it could be my ears. I went to the doctor and they said my ears have fluid in them which could be causing the vertigo, but if that's not what it is then it all comes down to anxiety and worrying about it too much. I have had a lot of tests done and it always comes back normal, so more than likely the cause of it is always thinking about it which causes anxiety which then leads to the dizziness

Have you seen a neurologist? Or a psychologyst?

Kimbosuki5 profile image
Kimbosuki5 in reply toDayana87

I've seen a neurologist and he said he doesn't think it's necessary to do any tests. I did some test with him while I was there. Like strength tests and stuff and he said I seem fine that it's anxiety.

And no I haven't seen a psychologist

I also had a cat scan on my head about a year ago and it came back clear

Dayana87 profile image

I hear ya I had a cat scan, MRI, cardiologist ran 24hr pressure and heart rate monitor, and now waiting on Nerologist test to come back. If it comes back clear I'll go and see some sort of specialist in lightheaded dizziness type of specialist. That I am nervous and anxious maybe even a lil depress yes it's true but phsycologist has helped lots with that. I still feel the physical effects and that's what made me anxious to begin with not knowing what this light headed sensation is coming from. I'm determined to get to the bottom of this because this is no quality of life. Feeling light headed 24/7 is horrible.
