Everything I eat I always think I'm allergic to it and even my clothes I think I'm allergic to the material is this part of health anxiety thinking I'm allergic to everything

Hi. It is possible for you to be 'allergic to everything' - there is a condition called MASTOCYTOSIS which is a mast cell disease. It can be diagnosed by bone marrow testing. There are many many symptoms such as skin itching, tiredness, headaches, muscle pain, ulcers and nausea - there are many more symptoms. As far as I know there is no real cure at the moment - but there are lots of medicines that relieve the symptoms, e,g antihistamines and steroids.

The other possibilty is of course our old friend anxiety. But unlike so many other conditions associated with anxiety, this one can be tested and confirmed or not. If you really feel that this illness is a possibility in your case then you need to go to your doctor and talk about it.

Chances of you been allergic to everything are very very slim indeed , chances that this is your anxiety playing tricks on you are so high I would put a bet on it :-/

Some kind of clothing can make us itch , like wool , nylon , polyester but you would usually see something like a rash on your skin or it would be really red and if you have health anxiety you will maybe look now and think you can see that , but when people usually have allergies they do know about it and you have said " you think " you have these allergies which in a way is admitting it is in the mind rather than reality

Once we start on this cycle of fear it does escalate and is common we will start with one thing and then add another and another which again seems to be what you are doing

Has the Doctor ever told you they think you have allergies ?

If not then it is again doubtful , sounds like your Health Anxiety is trying to keep a hold of you

Are you waiting for some kind of counselling because this will really help you :-)

When I feel something adding on to my fears I tell myself , here we go again , something else trying to get in and I even tell whatever it is that there is just no room for it , if we can let our fears know we are not going to let them control us they do eventually move on , easier said than done when you are feeling stressed but the more you practice telling them where to go the easier it gets :-)
