Sertraline making my vision blurred

I have recently started taking Sertraline, and it is affecting my vision, I am having trouble focusing on things. I have read in the leaflet that it can be a side effect. I just hope it's only temporary. Anyone else had these issues?

HI there, I have been on this medication for 3 weeks and have the same. How long have you been on the med? Jill

in reply to

I have only been on it since Friday, so about 5 days. I did take Sertraline a year or so again, and although it made me feel a little sick to start with I was fine. I have not noticed the blurred vision like this before.

Have you any other side effects? I was reluctant to go on this but persevering with it just now!

Not really, apart from feeling a little sick and the blurred vision, it has not been too bad, I know men are effected differently to women also

I have been on sertraline for over two years and the blurred vision is still a problem. It seems to occur after I've eaten!??? I space out and the vision goes. Sertraline also makes me shake and I get jittery alot. I am on 200mg a day and it is helping, so I put up with the side effects. But when it starts to wear off it can make me feel awful, headaches and pains down my arms and legs. The worse side effect for me is I'm soooo tired all the time. Hope this helps in some way 😕

Take care xx

I shake as well ,but I am only on 50mg at the moment.

Sorry forgot to say I'm a woman so my side effects are probably gonna be different to yours as you said. But keep strong and you'll get there xx

Thank you, and you x

Hi Damon, just wondering how you are feeling today? I at times get the shakes inside, I'm on 100mg , at docs tomorrow for follow up appointment!

Hello, I'm not too bad, I still have the out of focus vision though

in reply to

I have it slightly too but not causing any issues. I didn't realise until I had anxiety just how many pepole suffer from this, it's pretty awful!

when I was on it everything looked like it was moving sometimes. mostly the ground. i had to go off of it though because of the headaches it gave me so I don't know if the symptom goes away. It is safe though.

I have been on it exactly 1 week now, so I will give it another week and see how I feel, if I still have some issues I will speak to my Doctor again.

I know this is really old now but I found it the other week when I was trying to solve this problem and wanted to reply for anyone else who stumbles across this page. I have been on Sertraline (Zoloft) for about three months and was struggling with blurred vision. I was on the verge of going for an eye test because I would have long periods of not being able to focus. It turns out that some anti-depressants can cause your eyes to become dry and this can do something to your focusing (not really sure how it all works). I started using eye drops and haven't had any issues since. I have to use them two or three times a day. Hope that helps someone.
