I've tried falling asleep tonight twice and I can't because when I do I get really bad anxiety attacks. My heart started pounding and now I really can't sleep. I feel a really bad sense of doom and I don't know why

Iv had this and it's horrible feeling.
Your body is not wanting to go into sleep mode, and shocking you into a panic.
You and try to transition yourself into a calm and relaxing mode by following along with a sleep yoga class online. It does help a lot of people with sleep anxiety.

I know exactly how you feel. I am actually dreading trying to fall asleep these past few days which is making things even worse! I will have a random worry run through my mind and before I know it my heart is pounding, breathing gets hard, I go hot and feel so sick. It soon passes but that feeling is now scaring me and that is anxiety wining.
I finally got a sleep sleep last night but with the aid of a sleeping tablet. When I woke up after a few hours I listened to a talk or calming music on YouTube. If it happens tonight im going to fight it head on! A long walk today to tire my body out, a warm bath perhaps some chamomile tea? Then any feelings that do pop up I'm just going to tell myself I have no reason to panic, I am fine and safe and that is purely just anxiety being cruel.

It's just anxiety nothing bad is going to happen to you, I get this a lot when I'm anxious but it goes away completely when I'm calm and happy. There are some really good guided meditations on YouTube for anxiety, also search on YouTube hypnosis for anxiety. You'll be asleep in no time.

Please ask your doctor to recommend a therapist. I saw a christian therapists which helped me a lot. She didn't dwell on scripture but how to cope with relationships, personal issues, emotions, etc using the mind.
Hi ,yes I know its horrible I am trying something just now I read ,its when you start feeling your heart racing ,just try amagine the thoughts floating past you with you bieng the watcher also exept that they are just thoughts ,dont try and ignore them it diesn,t work ,just a short time ago my heart started racing for no reason ,and I just ,said to myself yes its a pain in the ass and tried bieng the watcher it gives you back some controll. remember its thoughts that we allow that controll us change the thought and take back controll , good luck ,YOU WILL GET PAST THIS,,
Hi there, hang in there with what your going through, just last night I had a bad night sleeping woke up at 12.30am till 3.00am, slept on the lounge and watched t.v, I knew it was anxiety because my mouth went really dry, and I felt tight in the chest, but I got through the night, not much sleep, but grateful to the lord for helping me.
