I need advise! PleAse .

So I'm 16 years old and for almost 2 months now I get very nauseous, week in the knees, trouble breathing, hot flashes. I've been to the doctor and they gave me anxiety meds which also help with the nausea but I feel like I'm going crazy. I don't know what to to, I cry all the time I won't hangout with my friends anymore, I feel so alone. My da keeps telling me I need to retrain my thought process but I don't know how. I'm very bad with being sick so this sucks. I constantly wonder what I can and can't eat even knowing it has nothing to do with what I eat. I just can't accept it. Please help, any advise?

I have a similar problem but with my anxiety I start to feel gagish, so I carry mints (Usually the really peppermint ones that feels like it numbs your tongue). If that doesn't work as well then my next step is salt. Salt has a certain taste to it the distracts the reflexs. My dentist told me, but first start off with the mints. By the way, I'm 15 and my birthdays on the 23rd.

Its so sad that so many young people are suffering with this awful condition.I am a lot older than you and know how it can get you in its grip. Find someone you can talk to about how you are feeling (this can help) also do hang out with your mates you can always say you are feeling down in the dumps and need some cheering up! Focus on what you d like to do with your life and have a purpose! Don't worry too much about eating you will eat when you are hungry try smoothies and things that go down easy ! You will get there! Tomato soup is always good when you feel off colour! Take care of yourself you have all your life ahead of you and so many things to look forward to.:)

Oh I really do feel for you. Dad is right - retraining your thoughts is CBT (or Cognitive behaviour therapy). Im on a waiting list for that myself. in the meantime the doctors gave me some websites to go on - moodgym.anu.edu.au , couch.anu.edu.au , llttf.com . Try these.

Also a relaxation app on your phone helps. Deep, slow breathing. And distraction too - recite a song/poem in your head - concentrate on remembering the words - anything similar that takes your mind off focussing on your panicky symptoms.

Don't cut yourself off from your friends - Bank all the good times that nothing has happened, and If anxiety symptoms creep up, take yourself off to the toilet or somewhere. Let it subside and start again, and say "oh well - it got to me this time" Keep on practising.

We're here if you need us.

My heart goes out to you, it brings back memories , as I had a anxious nature at your age and couldn,t concentrate at school.

Don,t feel life is pressure, what will happen, will happen......life can be so beautiful when we do not react to everything.....give yourself time alone in nature to slow down your racing head.......realize in a loving way, that in the eyes of others outside our family and close friends we are not that important.....and the secret of life can be as simple as enjoying the passing of time and help others along the way. Apart from a full medical check up,your symptoms sound like many of the classic symptoms of the really horrible anxiety disorder.

These symptoms are some of the worst a person can feel.Truly horrible and destroy all happiness and extroversion.

The good news is that these symptoms can be temporarily greatly helped or even removed with medication.

Another piece of great news is that although these feelings are absolute chaos and hell, they are, strangley,COMPLETELY SAFE.They can absolutely do you NO HARM.

Changing you thoughts is a great idea. You can go to a hypnotherapist and have it done for you,or can learn self suggestion. But you do have to learn the techniques.

Nausea is a horrible and very frightening symptom that is emotionally based due to anxiety.

There are also relaxation techniques that are fabulously helpful, but again, you need to be taught these.

Try getting yourself an appointment with an NHS anxiety service. Full listing here; iapt.nhs.uk/services/ they treat depression and anxiety and will help you find the triggers for your condition and do something about them.

I'm not sure if the services list is up to date and there will be lengthy waiting list in many areas. For some you can refer yourself by contacting them directly. Others require referral from GP so talk to your GP again if you need to.

Push your GP to get you access to a talking therapy. They should offer therapy and not just drugs (guidance from NICE says so). You may be able to get a CAMHS referral depending on local access rules, but the waiting list is likely to be long.

There is also helpline support from Anxiety UK, either on the phone or via email or in livechat with a trained volunteer. See anxietyuk.org.uk/

Other potentially useful helplines may be found at helplines.org/

Don't be shy of asking- these services are there for you.

Hi there Blah_blah. It's nice to see your post, even though it sounds like you're having some trouble. I'm sorry to hear that you're having all of these things going on in your life. It must be saddening for you. Did something major happen in your life recently, like before you started feeling nauseous, weak in the knees, trouble breathing and hot flashes? It sounds like you are very sad. Know that you will get through whatever it is. Being sad is normal. I get sad too. Sometimes if I'm alone at home at night I cry. It is very healing. It's okay to cry, even if it's just in private though in public or with family or friends is probably a bit better. I have trouble crying in front of people so I usually hold back if I feel really sad in public. Remember that being sad is part of life, as I'm sure you know because, well, it's happening to you. I wish you the best and send you my love and prayers. I know you are having trouble accepting this and I wish I could make it all better in a flash, but I'm not sure if I can. I'm with you Blah_blah so you don't have to cry alone. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt passing away so recently. I wish I could bring her back for you. I wish I could make you feel okay and not sad. I think I understand how it feels to lose your mind. It can be scary and frightful. I wish you the best. It must be hard for you right now, being so close to her death. I hope things get better for you. You sound like a smart person who understands life. Take care Blah_blah!

There's a book called Power Thoughts (about replacing negative thoughts with positive ones). The idea is that you can replace negative thoughts which could redirect your life. Google: Joyce Meyer and click on Power Thoughts. This has helped me tremendously. You are not alone and "this too shall past."
