There is a good chance that Paxil may help you. Give it a try. Just giving it a chance to help does not mean that you will be on it permanently. Good luck to you !

Hello Hoags32,
Yes, I have taken Paxil in the past, but that was for my clinical depression. However, Im on a different antidepressant now. But I do take anxiety medication called buspirone. And it works very well. I don't know where I would be if I didn't take it because I can get some sleep while Im on it. And not up all night thinking and thinking about what I have to do the next day or get done for the next day. Anxiety is an illness just like Clinical Depression and you can't get out of taking those drugs, most of the time, because it is an illness that needs the medications for your brain to work right. Now, I have found out, that exercising is also great for both Clinical Depression and Anxiety. But it doesn't cut it all away completely.
I hope this helps you!

A bit of years ago I took diazepam and it was because my level of anxiety was too high but it was for 6 days 2 times a day.it says that can provoke addiction.I suggest you to find something you really like to do...a hobby sport groups with similar interests.get busy in doing something and your anxiety will get better.bear in mind that I was suffering of PTSD for 2 years.my psychotherapist suggested to join a group and sharing ideas and it worked.
I feel the same, I didn't want to take anything. Now am on my third day of taking summit. Summit times you need little help.
Hi,I am a consultant psychologist in the U.K. for 39 years.
I have always been against chemical drugs and preferred natural and psychological methods.
However, there are a small range of drugs that can help anxiety and panic attacks.Paxil is one of these. It is especially useful if your anxiety disorder developed or increased after a period of depression, feeling 'low' for an extended period of time,or traumas of loss(such as death or divorce of a loved one in the previous year.
All drugs, also like all natural treatments are an experiment to see what makes you feel better. There sometimes can be side effects and sometimes make the patient feel worse before feeling better, but this is in a minority of cases and the best way to reduce this is to start on a low dose and spend longer increasing the dose in your system.Diazepam, some beta blockers, buspirone, citalopram, alcohol and cannabis have all been found incredibly helpful for many many people. The advantage of paxil, citalopram, buspirone, beta blockers are they have very little addictive properties.
I started taking Paroxetine 20 years ago, after debilitating panics caused me to give up the career I loved. I wasn't able to resume my job but this drug has certainly freed me from the attacks and, just as importantly, the fear of them. I do feel that it gave me my life back.
Hi, I resisted taking Paroxetine/Seroxat as it's called in the UK for a long time but I reached such a state that I felt I had nothing to lose. So I went on it 6 years ago. I started taking 5 mg and then only ever went up to 10 mg and am now back on 5 mg. It definitely helped me...help very subtle. I started going down to 5 mg because of the weight I've put on which is a side-effect. However as I'm going through the change I've been told it helps with sweats so may need to go up to 10 mg again.
I was on Paxil for many years, it worked well. My doctor put me on Effexor she said it was the updated version of Paxil. I didn't want to go on meds either but am glad I am it has been 3 weeks and I am feeling better, Panic and Anxiety are further in between.
