Doctors wont prescribe it here too much of a hastle with street pricing and the amount of abusers who OD on it its just too much of a hastle

Understand. It's the only med I had to stabilize me and did what you want.

kevoreally in reply toHearYou

Yeah well i have been begging multiple doctors to prescribe and no one wants o go through the hastle of piss testing or anything of that nature-_-

Right. Not required here by solo practitioner, but monthly med check is.

Understand fully. If doctor wasn't a sole practitioner, different law/protocol would apply. Don't like meds either. Only take what is RX to have some quality of life. PTSD isn't going to go away.

A beta blocker ( propranolol) is good it helps with the physical symptoms. Valium is good too but it can make you sleepy where as the propranolol doesn't.

I'm just like you with medication I have both that I have mentioned but I barely take them.

kevoreally in reply toAazz

Mmm beta blockers seem more of something else.. thats anoyher yhing I want someyhing thats SPECIFICALLY for anxiety and only anxiety.. docotrs over near me WILL NOT PRESCRIBE XANAX

Aazz profile image
Aazz in reply tokevoreally

Beta blockers are a heart and blood pressure medics but they are widely used for anxiety also, they will help with the fast heart rate, jittery and edgy feelings, I'm not sure what your symptoms are? If it's more mental then Valium would be better

kevoreally in reply toAazz

My symptoms are diff breathing, over analyzing constent thinking irrational thoughts

Sweaty palms a little but of a racing heart

I took zoloft and to me that was stupid because its an anti depresant id rather not take someyhing for heart and BP which also make you prone yo injuries i just dont see me taking something for anxiety thats really meant for BP and heart

Ill try the valium if my doctor allows it

Tip if your doctor won't prescribe it get a referral to a phychiatrist they will definitely prescribe it for you. I know lots of doctors are hesitant to prescribe Valium type drugs due to their addictiveness

Yeah I asked my psychiatrist he wont do it lol

You can try xanax or tavor

How Long have you been taking SSRIs? Did you have side effects?in case Have you consider changing zoloft with another SSRI,idk like citalopram or escitalopram? Unfortunatelly SSRIs Take Long time to make effect (MONTHS) i took citalopram and it started to make effect after 3-4 months

Ah ok I see. ..the only problem with xanax or valium etc is they are adictive but if you Take them just ''in case'' you shouldd be ok with it and easyly handle the situation..But you said you 'cant find the courage',idk for what 😞 but maybe cognitive behavioral tHerapy may help you,in addiTion with xanax tavor valium whatever?

HI kevoreally try Vistaril , this is a NON-benzio that helps me sometimes to calm my anxiety. I used to abuse xanax and was very addicted to it and bc of that history i'm scared to take any benzio. My current psychiatrist knows my history and does not prescribe xanax to anyone, however he does prescribe me a weaker benzio- klonopin- as well as a non-benzio- Vistaril. When my anxiety is level 7 or 8, the Vistaril helps, and i only need the klonopin when my anxiety is level 9 or 10. Here is copy and paste of some info on Vistaril--- "Vistaril (hydroxyzine pamoate) is an antihistamine with anticholinergic (drying) and sedative properties used as a sedative to treat anxiety and tension. Vistaril is also used together with other medications given for anesthesia."

try asking your doctore for Buspar. It is like xanax, but takes a little longer to work. But dr's usually have no trouble prescribing it as it's a non narcotic. Xanax is.

How bad are side effects if any?

Diazepam! I have a few off the doctors and when I get really bad, usually at night time when I can’t sleep, I take half a 2mg tablet. It’s not for long term so therefore you know not to take it daily, but it really helps me on the spot. I also refuse to take medication daily for anxiety, I tried it and felt like it made me worse 😂 hope you find something!

kevoreally in reply toMorgjt

Do you like the diazepam? Does it have bad side effects? Is it out of your system as fast at it goes in?

Morgjt profile image
Morgjt in reply tokevoreally

I have no side effects with it! The doctors told me it might give me a sort of ‘hangover’ effect the next day but I’ve never experienced it! I think because I take such a low dosage as well it helps straight away and doesn’t give me side effects. Really just helps me to relax and stops my anxiety symptoms!

There's no easy answer, I founds excercise helped until my hips decided the had enough. Vals and xanax Work but there is the usual warnings and no popular with dosc as additive. I've tried all the natural meds....rubbish. Try and ensure you get sleep, as much sun as possible is a biggy for me. a glass or two of wine...not a bottle and the most underrated treatment is laugther if you can find it. I listen to some American podcast and it gives me a lift, check out Bill Burr and the like for instance.
