Im so sorry to hear how your husband seem to be so unsupportive ! Its important you get the right treatment, have you been to your doctor yet if not please do that way the doctor can give you the best treatment suitable to you ! I do hope things improve for you please let me know how you get on ! (David)

Hi, soz u feel this way, support is very important when dealing with this, if your husband wont listen speak to a friend or family member, got to docs, dont keep it in, hope things improve soon. Xx

It's a shame he isn't more supportive. Things that are "in your head" can cause just as many problems as other diseases. Is there a real difference anyway? All your thoughts exist physically in your brain somewhere, so if something has gone wrong with them, it's not really any different to something going wrong with another part of your body.

Hi Panicdoll,

You are not weak. Anxiety is an illness, you are doing great, hang in there. Everyone here knows what you are going through, and how difficult it can make the most mundane tasks feel. Unfortunately, people who aren't familiar with the disorder can sometimes find it difficult to empathise. Your husband might even think he's helping by getting all 'tough love' on you in a misguided attempt to get you to 'snap out of it'. If only it was that easy, eh?

There's a really great book I came across called Overcoming Anxiety by Helen Kennerley (ISBN 978-1849010719) that teaches you how to use a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach to manage your anxiety. It also has a chapter for friends and family to read that can help them understand how best to support you. I ordered a copy in from my local library for free, then found it so useful that I went and bought my own copy.

If you haven't discussed your feelings with your doctor yet, do so. There's loads of support available out there, and your doc can help you access it.

And, of course, there are always people on here to talk to.

Stay strong (:

I completely understand what your going through. It's not all in your head . Anxiety is scary . But you are so strong . You continue to keep fighting . No it's not fair that you and me and everyone on this site fight anxiety and panic attacks daily. But we are all still here and still fighting . If you ask me we are some strong people yourself included.
