How do they know?

I'm so worried as most people I talk to on here have had a ct scan or mri just to rule anything serious out. My Dr's won't send me for one no matter how many times I ask. I've been suffering from headaches/ pressure/ vision problems/Derealisation etc for 7 weeks now. I feel scared and I might aswell give up :-(:-(

hello there,i've been asking my dr.for a simple chest xray but he wont let me too.he said my lungs are fine, its been three years now but im still alive.beleive them they know.your symptoms will pass too like mine.

I have not had an MRI. Or a CT scan. I have not had an EKG or anything. I have had CBC, urine test, blood sugar test, thyroid and ear check.

I, too, wonder if I need something more, but nobody thinks I do. My parents don't. Neither does my brother, who is a nurse. If you've felt this way for seven weeks and nothing bad has happened, it should reassure you that you are fine.

People keep telling me to see a GP to insure everything is okay. But I don't want to run to a doctor with everything I feel. I am sick of it. Everything started when I overworked my body and had an anxiety rush and it went down from there. If I had a problem with my brain, it would have showed by this point, almost three months later.

I don't think either of us are getting worse. It is our attitude towards it that reflects our feelings. I don't even have a GP, I just went to an emergency center and the only thing the nurse practitioner said was "You're fine. Just keep a better, balanced diet and you should see results."

It's been two months for me and honestly, I have no idea how people manage to stay worried for so long. I am about ready to say, "whatever! If something bad happens to me, okay! But I am so. tired. of. worrying." It does no good!

Anxiety can screw with your vision, with your head, with every part of you. Go to anxiety center and look up your symptoms if you'd like. It may help to show how many ways such a simple label as "anxiety" can affect your well-being. :)

I, too, suffered from derealization. I am now on depersonalization and let me tell you, it makes me prefer derealization.

I agree with jasperram and Trea16; if there was something wrong with you seriously you would for sure know by now. I've had ct's, mri's,x-rays, ekg's, and several dyes and cbc's. Nothing major was wrong, but like any other person on earth if you have that many test ran you will find small stuff wrong. Now, I worry about the little things that didn't affect me before, but now that I know I worry myself. I should of left well enough alone!! The test that I've mentioned are very costly and thats the reason most doctors don't like to send you for them unless you are having symptoms that he or she is familiar with. I'm running myself crazy with all this. I'm not God or your doctor, but I can almost bet there is nothing wrong with your head or health except for anxiety. Good luck! Try telling yourself everyday that there is nothing wrong with you; your healthy and its just anxiety making you feel all these types of ways.

Thanks guys for all your advice and support. Fingers crossed I'm slowly getting back on track and symptoms are slightly improving. I'm getting my meds increased to 40 mg on Friday so hopefully will be alittle more improvement to come. I've been headache / pressure free for afew days now. My eyes still feel strange so booked another optician's appointment for Wednesday xx

Hi riroar,

I went through all that everyone here is or was going through.

Plain and simple. I just got sick and tired of suffering it. When my psyche realised that, I was just over it all, like saying to yourself, "whatever", the symptoms and events started to improve.

This all happened because I became my own doctor, and took care of business. Luckily, this condition responds to being your own doctor, unlike many other afflictions. Sure, I went to the GP, ER, etc and I'm waiting for a psychology consultation, which the wait so far has been about a month, with no planned appointment on the horizon.

I still have my days, but nothing like when the panic attacks first hit me. I no longer focus on the symptoms or even the anxiety. I'm not on here very much anymore, either, because I realised that reading everyone's problems just kept me focusing on my own.

I now focus on feeling better, eating better, sleeping better, exercising better and spending more quality time with my kids. Let me tell you, it's working.

I hope you can be feeling better, too.

Regards,

Peter.
