Hello, I've been on Mirtazapine for nearly 2 years and currently on 30mg. I need to come off (once I talk to GP). Any experiences of withdrawal? Has anyone got any experience of going from 30mg to 22.5mg or 15mg? And also, how do you get 22.5mg? Would I split 30mg in to 3/4? Thanks, Michelle x

There are two routes to withdrawal with these drugs depending on who you are. One is easy you just withdraw and drop your dose fairly quickly. For some people this is quite easy. For others you have to drop very slowly - In my case I dropped from 20 to 5mg of paroxetine an ssri over 15 months then dropped from 5 to zero too quickly and have had hell since then. You can buy pill cutters that allow you to cut pills down fairly accurately. And often the withdrawal effects kick in about a fortnight after the dose has been lowered which is good to remember. Doctors often don't fully understand the nature of withdrawal from these drugs so I would google mirtazapine withdrawal and do as much research as possible. Anyway, hope you are not like me and withdrawal is a lot easier.
