My question concerns Mirtazapine.

Hi, I`m a newbie and am in my 3rd week of taking 15mg Mirtazapine. Can anyone confirm whether side effects increase when the dose goes up? Thanks. I`m very scared of all this. I am pleased to have found this site for support.

Hello, I'm on 30mg of Mirtazapine. Started on 7mg, then 15mg and then 30mg. I found that the biggest side effects I had were increased appetite and tiredness. I still have it now, 7 months being on there. Mirtazapine is quite fast acting.. 1-2 weeks. Though it may take longer. xxx

hi, my wife has been on mirtazapine for 8mnts now , gets her off to sleep great but has put half a stone on her in that time even tho she has been eating far less over that time, she has been on 30mg then 45mg but don't think she has been overly tired in that time, hope you are not having to many side effects.

Hi and welcome to the site. I used to take mirtazapine but found it made me really sleepy. Now I just take a very low dose to help me sleep and I take sertroline during the day.

Don't worry too much about side effects. Mirt is one of the newer drugs prescribed now because the older ones had too many side effects. So I think it is fairly safe. You can check out the side effects on line if you want to. Common symptons of it are, among others, a dry mouth and putting on weight. It can also affect your libedo.

I found that it helps libido, more than being on SSRIs.. I don't think it's supposed to decrease it like SSRIs but then I suppose every one is different. xx

Thank you to everyone who replied to my question. I`m doing it as one reply as I feel just dreadful and can`t type much. I had hoped that after 3 weeks on Mirtazapine I would have started to feel a little better, but I feel dreadful - worse each day - and I just can`t cope any more.
