Hi all, does anyone take citalopram for an... - Anxiety Support
Hi all, does anyone take citalopram for anxiety. . .?
Hi Kar,I was on citalopram between 2001 and 2008.I did very well on it and I was sure it had a license for anxiety too.Good luck with it and I wish you well.
Yep. I too had it for anxiety without depression. It worked too. X
I took it aswell for sometime for panic attacks it worked well for me.
Take care

Hi,
I also took citalopram during my worst bouts of anxiety. It helped me massively. Also if you want to talk IBS, I have suffered with it for a number of years but I am on the route to recovery now, without medication! xx
Hi, did u have anxiety because of your ibs..? I can be feeling fine when out then suddenly need the loo then the anxiety/paniac sets in. What is helping you with it. I'm about to join a gym. Thank you, Karen.
I think it's the other way around, my IBS is worst when I am anxious. Which I gather is very common
So, after going for a colonoscopy (grim, but worth it to get stuff checked out) I had breath tests to see if I was intolerant to lactose, glucose or fructose. Turns out I am intolerant to fructose.
Following on from that I saw a dietitian, who put me on the FODMAP diet. Although my symptoms still appear in times of stress, it has made an amazing improvement on my life.
So, if you haven't already, I highly recommend asking to see a gastroenterology specialist. Even though the diet is working well for me, my consultant is still trying to get to the root of my problems so hopefully one day I will be IBS free
They also can be prescribed for anxiety as well as depression, It can take a few weeks to get used to them. They can work well for anxiety but if after a few weeks if they don't seem to be helping then go back to your GP for further advice.
Dear Kar, did you solve your problem?
