Hi again jsp. I have been on sertraline before for anxiety and it did wonders.

This time around not so good and stopped taking it. I now have prozac, but I haven't started taking it yet.

Is it meant for anxiety as well as depression? I had to go through one or 2 meds to find what works.

im quite sure its primarily for depression with some uses for anxiety- depression was my biggest problem but anxiety is up there now

I've taken seroxat, I was weaned off that onto citralopram. They both worked for anxiety seroxat though seemed to rob in me of any emotion, citralopram worked again for anxiety, I went off the scale after my mum died so I was weaned off that onto propanalol and dosulepin and I'm still working with this one to make me feel like normal xxx

Yes it is, I don't think it as strong as the others. I only ever took 20mg of citralopram and this one I'm on 150mg 75mg in the morning and75mg at night. I've been having this dose for a week and its giving me acid indigestion! Xxx

Diazepam is used for treating anxiety but is on prescription only. Doctors will prescribe it short term as like any drugs they are addictive

I don't know of any other meds that are specifically for treating anxiety, other than those that have already been mentioned, and they are mainly anti-depressants. The only specific drug that will relieve anxiety very effectively are the Benzodiazepine tranquillisers (Valium, Lorazepam, etc). Sadly they are highly addictive. Sleeping drugs like Zopiclone can also reduce anxiety as they work in a similar way, but again it is so easy to become dependant on them. If anyone else knows of any other specific anti-anxiety medications I would be interested to hear.
