Has anyone read the Claire weekes book/
Yes. I read her books and found them helpful. Books by Dr. Leibgold very helpful as well and are online I think on Angelnet. He suffered from phobias and after completing a TERRAP course he designed an affordable program that could be repeated as many times (Free) as needed.... He is upbeat and optimistic...
Hi Sarah, Yes I have read her book "Hope and Help for your Nerves" and I think it certainly does help. Lots of people who respond on the forum I firmly believe will agree with me. I think I paid about £4.50 for my copy in paperback - free delivery - through Amazon.
One very important point she makes is that it is possible, over time, to recover and get back to normality, although this will (probably) not be achieved without some patience, and trust in her methodology and advice. It is most important to persist , even if you don't think you are making progress, stick to it!.
Very best of luck,
Mallet-Head
Thank you so much for your reply. I totally agree its a long road ahead but worth it to even feel a bit better. Thank you for taking the time to reply. Means a lot and I will def be buying the book.

Hi
Yes I read it last month. I was well on the way to recovery and wished I'd read it sooner. She makes so much sense and explains things clearly. I've read the self help for your nerves twice as I find her words comforting and it's like she's talking to you it's very calming and reassuring and if you put what she tells you to do into practice it works love eve x
Thank you for your reply Eve I will be buying the book very soon. Fingers crossed it will work x
Hi Sarah,

I have also read her book "Self help for your nerves". One of the key things she teaches is the need simply to accept you anxiety and not fight it. The more you fight it then the worse it gets. Having said that I have found this quite a hard thing to do. I guess it takes lots of practice.
Hi Em,
Your right it can be really hard to do when all we want to do is run or fight, and have the adrenaline fueling this need.
I guess I was lucky in a way, as with my panics, I would eventually get a cardiac arrest, (this is extreemly rare and wont happen to 99.99% of panic sufferers)
this wasn't a very nice feeling either, and to be honest I realised if I wanted to stop this happening, it was the only thing I could do. I had no choice, none of us have, unless we want to get worse.
It all depends on the severity of our illness really, and here is where I do think medication can help.
For me I had no choice, especially after I had a pacemaker put in lol, then the blooming panics had no release, I really had to get my arse in gear then.
Its all good fun though, in some strange way.
All the best

Hi Sarah
I have read the book and found it useful but i needed to read it twice for everything to sink in . It makes sense to try and break out of the circle of fear and instead of fighting which most of us do is ride with it.
Really hope you get some useful information from the book
Hugs
