It's a tough one isn't it? It's a bit chicken and egg - I was once diagnosed as having anxiety depression...depression as a result of anxiety. I assume it can happen the other way around. Have a look at anxietyuk.org.uk/about-anxi... does it sound like this?

In my opinion, coming from my experiences. Depression & anxiety are two evil "brothers" who can live (in you) individually, or as a pair. One can cause the other, so you get a "viscious circle". Please don't try too hard to analyse yourself.

I carried on for ten years with no help. G.P. would not listen. Because I now have a "life limiting" illness, I was referred to a hospice as an out-patient. After a few visits they realised my mental state was not good and offered me a psychologist. After 3 months my depression is hopefully history, and she is working on my anxiety and phobias. Life is better, the sun is shining again!!.

By whatever means, get professional help. Friendly, motivational chats with amateurs is not going to help. Don't be ashamed, or embarrassed, there are lots of people like you and me !!

Always remember:

IF IT IS TO BE........IT'S UP TO ME.

Good Luck,

When I finally got my diagnosis, ten years after it started, it was stated that I had 'panic disorder with agoraphobia but not floridly depressed'.

I have always considered anxiety and depression to feed off each other and often come as a pair. You get anxious, so you get depressed, you get more anxious because you're depressed, which in turn makes you even more depressed! Discuss with your Gp your full range of symptoms and see what he says xxx

A lot of people with an anxiety disorder have comormid problems where they suffer from more then one, and they can be related to each other, feed into each other for very logical reasons. Hit them hard.
