Any one had CBT?
ive just started cbt, ive only had two sessions and all we seem to do is go over the past and i leave more depressed. its early days though. x
I know what you mean! I've had lots of different forms of therapy and it always occurred to me that I would rather move forward and get better than dwell on the shit I went through in the past, why drag it all up again? It can help though, in my opinion. If you get on with your 'Councillor' and trust them they'll help you work through your feelings and help 'clear your head' and allow you to re-examine things that happened before that you couldn't deal with at the time in your life. A bit like stuff we shove to the back of a drawer and never get around to sorting out (favourite old worn out bras and knickers comes to mind!). You might be different to me of course, but my anxiety is rooted in a build-up of events that I hadn't been able to manage at the time.
Hiya,
I've been twice too and if my councillor tells me to get rid of my cats again, its not gonna be CBT I need, I'll need locking up and he will require urgent medical attention lol. Like Sam says its early days.
Hope you find it helps xxx
Why does he/she suggest getting rid of your cats?
I have had CBT about 2 years ago and it really helped. You have to get worse to get better some times and I know I did. However I did have a relatively short run (about 8 weeks) before going to Uni but haven't continued since as I don't feel I am ready to here. Give it a few weeks it will probably help, even if it doesn't make it completely better.
