My Philosophy on Anxiety..
It all started when I was reading a book that my therapist recommended to me. I came up with the idea about the sport I love so much; baseball.
I Picture an outfielder as my mind, waiting in the outfield. The ball, hit as a line drive, a deep line drive is the negative thought. The fielder (me) is running, going after the ball. At the last moment, I reach up and field the ball, catching it in my glove, thereby stopping the negative thought. As soon as the ball is in my hand, I rub it while I think of a positive thought. As soon as that positive thought is completely in my mind, the fielder (me) throws the ball back into the infield. Getting rid of any negative thoughts.
I've been doing this every time I get a negative thought. It took practice buy I can do it now with no effort. The ball player has made many great plays. Intercepting the bad thoughts prevents the negative thoughts from getting deep into my mind. This is done with my breathing and my cognitive sheets.
That's all visual in my mind. And This is the way I catch irrational thoughts and the way I practice cognitive thinking.
