Anxiety and Depression; what worked for me.

As I read many of these posts and see those of you suffering from anxiety and depression, it breaks my heart.

I have been through severe experiences with both and know how awful it can feel.

I wanted to share with you what I did that changed my life. I have not experienced depression or anxiety for a year now.

I simply feel a huge relief from years of mental anguish.

I received TMS treatments. I hope some of you will check out the details online, as it is a lot for me to explain.

Ask your doctors about it and see if they think it’s right for you. It was quite expensive; thankfully my insurance covered 70% which left me with $3,000 to pay out of pocket. It was worth every penny! No one should have to struggle if there is a possibility of getting the relief you all deserve.

I hope at least some of you will check this out. Take care!

TMS is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. It uses magnetic pulses targeting a part of the brain to reduce/eliminate depression. It's a noninvasive treatment. You're in a comfortable reclining chair with the device that's attached to a machine against your skull. You feel a pulsing/tapping . Treatment is typically 5x/week for 6-7 weeks with each session about 20 minutes. Afterwards you can go about your day. Improvement may not be noticed for at least a few weeks. As with any treatment results vary. It's a big time commitment but well worth it if it works. My Medicare covered my treatment.

I, too, had TMS, had 3 rounds; the positive results of the first two each lasting about 6 months and the last one is still working after just over 3 years. If not for TMS I may not be here today. After being on meds for decades and becoming treatment resistant to them, my therapist recommended it. I always tell people that results vary and it doesn't work for everyone, just like any medication. My Medicare totally covered my treatments.

I found TMS to be very helpful and was fortunate that my insurance paid the majority of it except for a small copay. I actually enjoyed it and the only side affect I had was my teeth chattering during the treatment so I would chew some buble gum during treatment which helped cushion my teeth. For me the other helpful thing was getting my hormones, thyroid and adrenals all functioning properly because they directly affect our mood.

Glad you found an answer! It didn't work for me but I suffer from bad headaches already so maybe I wasn't a good candidate. My doctor referred me for it as it has helped people.
