Self-compassion over self-esteem

If any of you have seen any of my posts I almost always mention books. Maybe I feel I can point to stuff that was at least good enough to publish 😜. Anyway, here is a bit from the "Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook" I am working through.

Self-esteem:

positive evaluation of self worth

requires feeling better than others

a fair weather friend

contingent on conditions

Self-compassion:

not a judgement or evaluation at all -- simply relating to who we are with kindness and acceptance

requires acknowledging that we are all imperfect

always there for us

a stable sense of self-worth

How have any of you accelerated the process of, as Dr David Burns says, finding out What is self-esteem? How do I get it? How do I get rid of it once I have it? 😇

Life is so freeing when how I feel about myself does not depend on conditions and I can just accept myself. May you all have peace☮️
