Hi

healthunlocked.com/bhf

Have a look at this site for heart related issues, including blood pressure . Although it's the British Heart Foundation , it is very helpful.

FYI I started taking them in my mid 50s and been on them ever since.

Hi sweetheart,

It's nice to hear from you! I have a friend who is 45 years old and on blood pressure medication. My family has a history of high blood pressure and requiring pills for that starting at age 41. Your question is best answered by a doctor since there are a lot of factors involved. Since I'm 43, the doctor is now monitoring my blood pressure. The questions I remember she's asked me to determine if I was at risk was do I smoke, do I use tobacco, do I have a family history of high blood pressure. I know there were more, but those are the ones I remember .

That's a relief that even younger people start them and keep them up. I still have this paranoia, she's gonna d1e because of the 2020 v 2025. Ah nevermind, thank you love, that's good information

I apologize, but I actually got this confused with cholesterol. It's the cholesterol they are monitoring because of the family history. Not sure if cholesterol and high blood pressure often go hand-in-hand. You know, I should ask my doctor this at my appointment tomorrow. You've given me something to ask, so thank you!!But I can tell you that my husband is on them and he's in his mid-50s.

I started taking them in my late 30s early 40s....job had a hold of me...that being said...it's not uncommon any more for people to be on bp meds...

Its not anywhere near every older person who needs them. Neither me or my 3 sisters who are all in our 60's and 70's need them. It is more common with age though.

I was put on them in my late forties, I remember sitting in the local pub, and I mentioned I had just started them, do a lot of people take them? 10 out of 13 immediately put their hands up🥴 when you start on those, it's usually a life sentence! I'm 68

young children can be put on bp medication if they have certain medical conditions.

I started bp meds at exactly same age as my mum and grandmother (32). I am now 57. My eldest son has been on BP meds since 25.

You have to remember that you are not responsible for your mum's health. If she needs medication, she would need to discuss this with her doctor. Take her to the doctor, and in the meantime, keep doing what you are doing to take care of yourself.
