I have been so depressed lately and I don't know what to do to get help for it. I see a therapist and a psychiatrist and I'm brutally honest with them. Hi 😊 Maybe tell your doctor to try you on new meds. And if you have to go to the hospital again it might help. And there's nothing to ashamed about if you have to go to go back.Take care
My last 2 hospital stays really scared me.... the first one the cops were called on me and 6-7 of them came in my apartment causing a huge scene. Then the last time there was someone else in the psych unit that freaked out all the time, and it scared me.
I talked with my psychiatrist last week and he ordered some genetic testing thing to determine the best medicine for me. I don't know if it will help.

I found that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) works well for depression and anxiety. It’s a short term counseling program where you learn to deal with thoughts, feelings and behaviors and can help more than psychotherapy for some people. Also a low dose of sertraline, a Zoloft generic, has helped me as well. Exercise helps too, even if it’s a short walk. As well as reducing depression, it can help with mood and energy levels.
Please go easy on yourself if hospitalization is important to get the help you need.

I am sorry you are feeling so depressed. I can relate. I've been on multiple anti-depressants and haven't had any luck. I have even considered ECT when I've been in one of my depressive episodes. I am very afraid of hospitals too because they make me super anxious, but the important thing is they can keep people safe.
Here are some ideas of some things that have helped me and I hope might help you:
- Trying to be around others/not isolate (I am really bad at doing this, I'd much rather be in bed, but I try to push myself)
- Exercise (even if it's just a short walk, yoga/stretching, dancing) I know motivation is so hard when you're depressed though, so be gentle with yourself. If it seems impossible that's okay, rest.
- Dark chocolate (my favorite) or eat in general (not too much junk though) Drink water! Sometimes I'll be dehydrated and it just makes things worse.
- Omega-3 vitamins are great.
- Sunlight (even if you just open your blinds)
- Reading a good fiction book - that way you can get lost in it.
- Keeping a gratitude journal. I try to think of at least 5 things I am grateful for every day. Eventually after keeping one for so long, I've noticed when I get very depressed or have bad thoughts I think of those things.
I also make a reasons to live list every year and I look at it when I need to.
Keep holding on. Change is certain.
