My doctor and I decided that I go on the antidepressant Zoloft generic Sertraline. I started taking it today.. I am hopeful. Has anyone in this group ever taken it and what were the results, good or bad. I am nervous because I usually don’t like taking medications, but I think that taking this medication is the right decision.

Antidepressant Experience
Interesting, my doctor just started me on generic Zoloft yesterday! I gather it takes at least two weeks to be effective. Let us know how it goes.
Hi,Zoloft is one of the first meds to try if you haven't had an antidepressant before.
There is good evidence that Zoloft works. It has been around since 1991, so 30 years of history.
For some people though , they find something else could do the trick. Its not that one med is better than the other. It's just we are all put together differently and of course, respond differently. 🐈⬛
I agree with the other replies here, it's often a starter antidepressant to try first. I've been on it to support Pre Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) for about a year. I take it in and off throughout my cycle in the mornings, and it has been a gamechanger for me. It really helps balance my mood and my sleep, without making me feel 'numb'. The first couple of weeks were a fair few side effects, mostly affecting my stomach. As has been said, everyone is different, and good for you on deicing to try something. I felt similarly hesitant about trying antidepressants, but it can be helpful to think of it as topping up the chemicals you're missing. I doubt any of us would avoid taking insulin if we were diabetic!
