New antidepressant question

So I just got out of a doctors appointment and they took me off of Prozac bc it wasn’t helping and have now put me on Celexa.. Is anyone on here on Celexa and how does it work for you? This is my 5th antidepressant now and I’m losing hope that anything will work. 😞

Celexa is a good one, I’ve taken it and had friends take it. Give it a chance

It worked for a while for me but found lexapro worked better for me personally. But everyone is different, and even though someone else had good or bad results does not pertain to how your body will react to the medications. Your better off just waiting and seeing how it works out for you. I'm sorry your having to go through the revolving door of medications...I've been there and done that too....it just took time and patients.

I can completely understand that.....but just keep in mind that if it can make you feel a bit better....it's worth it.

Hi Marebear. I’ve read some of your earlier posts and sorry to learn about your health issues which appeared to have triggered your anxiety. I think you said that you are over the worst of that but now trying to cope with a new problem. The symptoms of anxiety. This is very common, so common in fact that most anxiety sufferers struggle in the same way, trying to cope with the symptoms, hoping that they will go away. They have forgotten about what might have triggered their anxiety in the first place and now focussing on their anxiety. They have become fearful of their symptoms, some of which are very common and others that are unique to each individual. Whilst symptoms may differ, the root cause is the same. Fear or fearing the feelings of fear.

To recover from anxiety and make all those symptoms go away, practice accepting the feelings, allow them to be there but not to try doing anything about them such as fighting, avoiding or suppressing the symptoms you fear so much. It is only because you are afraid of them that they linger. Lose your fear of them and they will go. If you don’t fear anxiety, it won’t bother you again, certainly not to the extent that it is bothering you now.

If you have time, I’ve posted a lot of information on this website about acceptance which you might find helpful. You can and will recover if you change your attitude so that you are ok about not feeling ok and carrying on with your day. The symptoms you have are designed to make you feel extremely uncomfortable and perfectly normal under the circumstances. It’s just your natural fight/flight mechanism working overtime to try and protect you (make you avoid, run away, fight etc) because you keep telling yourself that you are under a perceived threat because you fear the symptoms of anxiety. They are all completely harmless. It’s just excessive adrenalin. Nothing more.

The more you practice acceptance instead of trying to fight your way out of it, the more you will recover.

Best wishes

Beevee

This is a real eye opener! Thank you for this. My biggest fear with my anxiety is that I wake up to shortness of breath all day long until I go to bed. It never goes away and I go on with my day trying to accept what is but there’s always something in the back of my mind that my throat is gonna close up and I’m gonna die.

Anxiety cant kill you. Its just your anxious mind making anxious thoughts because you have anxiety. The more respect you give to those thoughts, the longer they stick. If you didnt have anxiety, you wouldnt have those thoughts or symptons so dont entertain them. Learn to observe them when they come and dont get involved, no matter how loud and persuasive they may seem. Its just excessive nervous energy being released which is good because it needs to be allowed to escape. Fighting the thoughts or placing belief in them just keeps topping up the energy which is why allowing it all to happen and not doing anything about the thoughts and feelings will work wonders.

Hi, MareBear!

So glad you reached out. You are very brave to do so.

Anxiety is paralyzing FEAR! Do you know what cancels out fear? Faith! You can't have fear if you have FAITH that you'll be ok, that anxiety will not suffocate you.

Faith doesn't have to be God or Jesus or St. Polycarp for that matter.

Faith is knowing there is something out there helping to pull you through tough times.

Faith is being grateful to "something" when things go well for you.

If you pray for or ask for help from another realm, it will be there to show you some Self-Confidence, Self-Love, Hope & Courage.

So, my friend...take as many or as few or parts of everyone's suggestions & start to heal!

Love & Hugs,

Colleen
