I have removed my recent post because i began to feel quite vulnerable and anxious with the troll who typed numerous responses which were unsettling in the extreme, and which was absolute harassment. In all the years of being on HU I have never felt so uneasy, I know it's only online trolling and the said person cannot contact me or know where i live but it's something i cannot tolerate but it still affected my wellbeing and my blood pressure shot up alarmingly, very worrying indeed. People who do this really are sick and should not be doing this, its obvious they have problems but my word all they do is cause anxiousness and torment when HU is to allay people's fears.
I was about to write a new post but its made me feel rather nervous to do so.😪

I'm very sorry your post was attacked by a troll yesterday. She's been in and out for a few days. She goes onto other sites and does the same thing.
Nothing she wrote was directed at you it was just ridiculous annoying garbage.
What we can't do is let any of them take over. I understand it must be very stressful to have your post be the one that gets taken over. Again, I'm so sorry this happened.
You posting this is great. Members need to be on the lookout for odd behavior and report things. It's sad it comes down to this.
Reporting is the best we can do.
Please don't stop your posting: Take a break if you need to but know that voice is valuable.
Surely the answer to that is the first time it happens to mute them and thereafter mute any unsolicited PM’s Obviously there are players, trolls who have in the past gone undetected for months but I just feel playing with the known ones is pointless and prolongs their visit. Again those looking for payback for whatever reason are certainly a force to be reckoned with but we on the forum can’t stop them and sometimes neither can HU.🤷♀️
You mentioned report button that's what I was referring to. Some people want to chat and can get wrapped up in things.
I guess it depends on how you look at it. Remember bones? We went around and put 🦴 all over his replies. People caught on and stayed away as we were pointing out he was a troll.
Yep, that’s why HU can take no responsibility for what happens in PM’s as stated in the guidelines. I think in this current case one response “xxxxxx is a known troll please do not respond and nothing after that. Back in the day I tried to warn members with a subtle comment about a player but only a couple picked up on it. Thankfully they were eventually unmasked.
I remember years ago when I first came here you reached out to me to tell me to be careful of someone. We didn't know each other back then and I was so grateful you alerted me. I didn't even know what a troll was
Oh dear. I'm so sorry, secrets. I will say that we can't help trolls coming on here. What we can help, though, is how we respond to them. You are under no obligation to respond to anyone who makes you feel uncomfortable. There are both muting and reporting options for this exact reason. HU tries it's best to safeguard this site. Like anything else though, it's not a water-tight system and HU and the moderators rely on us to report suspicious behavior.
I am sorry this happened on your post and I agree 100% with the others. Its not your fault as this person is a troll and doesn't care who they upset.
You might feel safer on here though if you lock your post to the community only. As it is unlocked this and all the replies go viral and can even appear on social media.
The default button is set to everyone so you have to change it manually. To do this find your edit button.
Trolls need therapy. It's too bad they are wasting their time playing games on here. Their illness is beyond our scope of peer support.
Always good to mention the lock feature. You are so good at reminding everyone. A couple years ago I saw a news letter in a doctor's office. There was a write up on this HU site. A member was here at the time and had a personal photo as an avatar and they were quoted from the internet. I recognized them. Last thing I would want is my picture floating around the country
Unfortunately it’s not just trolls , I was upset greatly last week by a member on here who sent me a vile PM, for no reason, thankfully she was removed and won’t come back, hopefully , so we have to be careful everywhere.
Not to make light of what happened to you, but you knew it was a true story. It was talked about on one thread.
Some come on here and make up stories of having cancer, losing their loved ones, being abused etc. It's later found out that they are fake. This takes away from people who are seriously struggling.
This particular person was all over HU sites, asking for one particular member. Saying they were a significant other, that's a stalking situation
I think it's good these posts go up. It opens more eyes
I haven't had a troll go after me here, thankfully, but I have experienced another member writing a whole post against me. I wasn't named, and a lot of friends supported the poster, saying how awful I'd been -- when they hadn't seen the exchange.
The only one who stood, and said "HU takes down posts, not other members", was hypercat54 . I remember, my friend.
I'm sorry you were bothered here. I'm sorry the effects still linger. See how many members here support you? I do too. We want you to heal.
Hi secrets. My sympathies it was your post which was attacked. I understand about feeling threatened from an unknown source although cognitively I " know" these twirps can't do any harm personally. It's horrible though.
I enjoyed your last post but as usual didn't get round to replying.
Please carry on posting. Don't let them win but take a break if you need to.
Agreed 100% HU needs to be aware and stay on top of that nonsense. Sounds like another display of ego, didn't happen to see it but it should not be tolerated. I could report it too. So sorry this happened to you. Thx for the heads up -
