"Anxiety - your days are numbered!"

"I'm not fearful of you any more. I know the power of anxiety is limited. You cannot kill me. You cannot disable me. You cannot make me lose my mind.

"O.K., you can make me feel really uncomfortable, but so what? You are all bark and no bite, I have the measure of you now. I no longer have to fear the bad feelings and strange thoughts that you bring and I'm going to tell you why.

"All I have to do is accept you for the time being and stop rewarding you with fear and you will fade away. You weren't expecting that were you? The more I agree to accept you for the moment, the less I fear you and I know you thrive on fear.

"So I won't be fighting you any more, anxiety, that's for sure. Fighting just causes more stress, strain and pain and makes my nerves feel worse. So instead I'm going to agree to co-exist with you. Fearlessly. And as I fear you less AND LESS I will feel the life draining from you.

"You see, I have now read the book that Claire Weekes wrote all those years ago, 'Self help for your nerves', you can still pick it up on Amazon. It's the one that has helped millions escape from the horrors that you inflict on us. Not just panic attacks but all the symptoms you use to make our lives miserable and without meaning.

"Anxiety, I have read the book written by the woman who cracked the anxiety code and your days are numbered!"

This is not and easy task to master. Note to the community, it takes time. Work with it, you will eventually be able to coexist with anxiety.

You may have set backs. It's ok, that's normal.

Take your time. It takes lots of practice.

You are right, Acceptance is not an easy or instant remedy: it takes practice and persistence. We spend a lot of time getting ourselves into a state of high anxiety, we must allow a little more time to gain respite and recovery.

To begin with we may only feel Acceptance (for the time being) for a few minutes each day but we can build on that as each day we replace fear with temporary co-existence.

Nothing worthwhile in life is easily won.
