Stopped Paroxetine - 10mg- without tapering- been on it 20 years. Had complete anxiety/panic crisis. GP prescribed Sertraline. Really disagreed with me- agitated panicked insomnia…got up to100mg- side effects ridiculous. Tapered off and started 50mg Trazadone- started sleeping better immediately- now on 150mg tor try and help depression…does it take time and perseverance?

4weeks 50 4 weeks 100 5 weeks 150.

GP thinks I should maintain as it’s having an effect…

Please positive encouragement- I have terrible health anxiety- so easily spooked.

Gosh you've been through the mill haven't you.Well done for persevering with it.

It can be pretty awful finding a medication that suits you , sometimes it feels like your worse when you try to get better but you are being strong and should be proud of yourself.

Yes, even when you find a medication that suits you and works , whether it's for physical or mental health , it can take some time for it to have it's full effect and some more time to find the right dose to manage your condition on a stable level everyday.

It can take 4-8 weeks to get used to a medication, get over moderate side effects, and to feel a significant change ( if you have no change after that it's worth asking to try a different medication);, and 4-8 weeks again for your optimal dose to have that same significant stable effect.

If 150mg isn't the maximum dose you can have and you still feel you could require the higher dose after 8 weeks speak to the GP.

Your body can take some time to adjust to using a medication in the most efficient way even if it is one that you tolerate well. So take heart. Take care , Bee

Thanks for speedy response. Do you think when you up the dose it takes another 4-8 weeks to settle? I hope so- this one is certainly calming and helping me sleep…..just wish I could bring some joy back in….🤞🤞

I think the medication is there to help you to be settled enough to feel that you can start doing those things and making the changes you want to to help the joy back in . You need to get the balance of self care and medical care to finally get to a better place. It takes us all time , be kind and patient with yourself and you will get there , hugs , Bee
