Hi. I’m 60 year old passionate holistic veterinarian who over the past 4 years burned out. Took medical leave but it’s been difficult being idle as my career has always been my main go to over hobbies, friends, etc. Being on my own has been difficult so I moved back in with my ex wife and son, which is a mixed bag. Hoping to make new friends. Esp if anyone lives in South Florida area. Thank you.

New and looking for friends and support
Hi Michaeldym! Welcome. 😊
Welcome!
A big thank you for the work you do. Working in a vet clinic is so much more than just fun animals. Turns out, you have to deal with their horrible owners too! That takes a lot of patience and dedication.
It’s odd when we step away from all we have known and now are left with free time. Too much free time. I am in a similar boat (SAHM mom whose kids are growing up) and now find myself without my own identity.
I suggest trying new things: new groups, new physical activities, new restaurants. It gets you out of your rut. Also, if you feel so inclined, donating a bit of your time (don’t let yourself be taken advantage of!) can work wonders on a lost soul.
south Florida here too. Distractions help so I encourage you to try new things see what you enjoy.
Hi there. I don't live in Florida but you being a vetranarian is of much interest to me. My husband and I just lost our 7 year old Maine Coon cat Bella to oral cancer. We definitely believe it was the water she was drinking in PA, where we live. I'm heart broken over this loss as she was my first pet ever and my constant companion. We needed to have her put to sleep and I had to make the appointment to do that and the last week was so surreal and heartwrenching too. As a vet I'm sure you've had to put many animals to sleep during your tenure do you have any advice for us on how to get over this tremendous loss? I know that time heals all wounds or at least that's what they say but not all the way. I will always remember Bella as I was in a major depressive episode for four years straight and she was there for me. Each day trying she tried so hard to make me feel better which she did do. I'll share her picture with you so you can see how beautiful she was and still is as she's now over the Rainbow Bridge. So you're finding it hard to have some idle hands I guess? My husband is on disability and he have a radio station which keeps him very busy. He also has an electric bike which he rides often and can switch parts out as he's very good with his hands. Anyways, what part of Florida are you from? Paul and I were going to move to Punta Gorda or New Port Richey and still might do that after I retire. I know you said you were looking for friends so Paul and I would love to converse with you if you would like that let us know. I just wanted to be upfront and honest that I was married to someone from the get-go in case you were looking for somebody to date cuz that definitely wouldn't be me LOL How is it moving back in with your ex-wife and your son I'm sure your son is great but do you and your ex get along well enough to live together that must be a bit hard ? How did you like being a veterinarian? I'm sure it's very rewarding work and you have to go to school for many years to do that so you have my upmost respect for your commitment and helping animals. Get back to me regarding what you feel would be of help to me as far as my grief goes please because I'm missing her so hard right now. She was my sweet Bella and was our fur baby and my spirit animal. Thanks for reading. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care.
how are you today?
