Hi All!I'm Cinnabonbon π₯. I was diagnosed with Anxiety a few years ago and was recently diagnosed with Depression. I wasn't aware someone could have both at the same time. I am lucky π to have a family doctor who is caring, helpful and honest (that last one is important!!). That's right! Make sure you've got an honest doctor in your corner. Some doctors or psychiatrists think lying π€₯ or withholding information π€« is the way to go. If you meet a doctor or shrink like this RUN!!
My family, friends and students keep me going by giving me a reason to get up in the morning π. Without them, I'd be in bed all day (not good!)
I joined to find other positive ways to deal with these illnesses. Encourage eachother to keep going when the going gets tough

Hi Dolphin14!I'm a piano teacher. It's important for me to see the students, as I feel better afterwards π. Going out (even if it's for a 10 minute walk π¦) can help because there's that sense of accomplishment! However, if the symptoms are really bad, one should stay in and not force themselves. There's nothing wrong with this.
Yes! I am doing my best coping!! Hope you are coping well!
my ex when she was 14/15 was well above her level playing piano her parents made her do an hour every day after school not sure how it`s graded but she was way better than anyone her age group I suppose that`s why she ended up hating it feeling forced into it.
yeah she got lessons as well she played for the church sometimes as her parents helped run the Sunday school at the church but think peer pressure had the opposite effect to what they hoped for.
Hi Cinnabonbon. I am an older student of piano. I took lessons a few years as a child and have been taking lessons for about a year and a half. I love playing the piano- it helps with my anxiety. My poor piano teacher had to go through lockdown all by herself. She is single, and her youngest child moved out during the pandemic. She taught all of her lessons on Zoom. I don't know how she did it. I could see falling into depression if you teach in your house. I think you need to make it a point to get out and do something unrelated to piano as much as you can. Make sure you exercise on a regular basis. Musicians tend to be temperamental and depression and anxiety is common.
nice to meet you Cinnabon! I also was diagnosed with anxiety and later depression and am battling them both like you. I love what you said about supporting each other. This is an awesome community π
