Hey currently taking Buspar 2 times a day. 4 30 am. And 10 30 am

Feel like it’s wearing off around 4 pm and was wondering if that’s possible? Treating severe GAD . Works pretty good during the day but having trouble in the evening hours.

Hi

Maybe you can delay the time on that second dose to get afternoon coverage

🐬

I take mine after breakfast and at bedtime because of time coverage and since it can sometimes make me feel a bit funky. Did your doc perscribe those time slots?

I’m curious on your dosage. After years mine was dramatically increased with awesome results.

I went from 5 mg to 30 mg and now at the maximum of 60 per day

She’s taking 7.5 mg 2 times a day now. We slowly have been going up since her tolerance is so low. Yes her doctor recommended those times. Going to reach out to him and see about three times daily. Just like hearing other people with experience with this. 😊

I took mine in the morning and evening for years with good effect. Recently entered episode of severe anxiety so my dosage was increased to 60mg per day and I break it up into morning, afternoon, and evening doses. Not sure if it's the timing or the increased dose but it does help with my symptoms. Going to talk to my psych today about just AM & PM doses since the midday dose is just a hassle.

Yeah I was thinking something like that for her. Her Anxiety is pretty high and if she misses a dose it really makes a difference. One time she missed her noon dose and could tell that her anxiety increased a lot. Seems to have a short half life.

I split up my Buspar into 4x a day. 15 mg each time.

I take smaller, more frequent doses of buspar because (after more than 10 years of taking it for GAD), I have found that it starts wearing off after around 4 hours. I’m not saying it quits working after 4 hours, only that it doesn’t work as well for me beyond the first four hours. I would start feeling my anxiety starting to rise slowly from the 5th-8th hour. I even asked my doctor to change my prescription to be for every four hours, as needed.

Thanks for replying. That sounds like my mom. After 5 or 6 hours her anxiety goes up. That’s good to know, Nice to hear other people’s experiences. Almost like she has slight withdrawal from it in the late afternoon.
