A regular dose of benzos

Many of you know my story...ocd, ptsd, anxiety, depression and a nasty autoimmune disease that is disfiguring. I currently take an anti depressant and a mood stabilizer to help control the ruminating thoughts. Every other day I am ‘ok’...not great but ok. My dr has agreed to let me take a small dose of klonopin every day as it is the only thing that totally quiets my mind. Given my age (63) and overall health status, it was felt to be the right thing to do to give me some qua.it’s of life as realistically due to my autoimmune disease, the quantity is a bit limited.

We talked about the benzo's before and I think it alright to take them to keep your sanity. Like I said before though, I've heard if you take too many too often you may build up a tolerance to them.

That's what you wanted. I'm glad you got them

Well...do I wish I could get by without them...of course I do but right now that’s not the case....considering all my issues, I am ok with it,

Trauma does things that make life unbearable at times. I am 63...never took an aspirin until trauma, an autoimmune disease, etc. disrupted my once relatively perfect life. All I can do is move forward and enjoy what time I have right now...if a pill helps then so be it.

May I ask, have you ever taken benzos?

Usedtobe, I'm sure your doctor weighed the benefits vs consequences for your

age, health status as well as trusting that you won't abuse the medication.

Sometimes we have to put aside the fear of dependence in order to get some

quality of life or life isn't worthy living in emotional pain.

I'm happy for you and this is coming from someone who did get dependent on

benzos. But if the time came once again that I found myself in the same position

as you right now, I wouldn't get it a second thought. Life is too important to me

to not be a part of it. I wish you well :) xx

Autoimmune disorders in women on the whole are caused by oestrogen not being moderated by progesterone I recommend you get some bio identical progesterone to dampen down the oestrogen that causes autoimmune flare ups - which is the root cause of your depression

You could drop the antidepressants and mood stabilizers and just have a small bit of benzo

Progesterone maybe your missing link here

Every day? Don’t mean to be nosy. No need to answer ..

Well, I look at it like I am 63...if it gives me some quality of life for whatever time I have remaining .... be it 10 years, 20 years, etc. then so be it...certainly wasn’t part of my life plan and would you have told me 5 years ago that it would be I would have called you crazy. Was a successful professional until things got turned upside down. That’s life I guess.Bless you for your honesty and willingness to share.

Same boat for me. Never expected life to turn out this way.Let's just make the best of what we've been dealt.

I'm glad you were able to get medication that will help you.
