Hi. I have major depression. I am 62, old and broken. Living with beloved cat, Turk in a ratty rented room. Accepted into nursing school only to get cancer at end of 2nd semester. Went to another school and it closed. Stayed with aunt through cardiac surgery and rehab. Lost house and 3/4 of contents, entire family except aunt and cat. Family does not understand depression and think tough love is the answer. Have had to live in car. In about 3 was will probably be homeless again. Don't know what to do. Can't concentrate and am so overwhelmed. And scared of what is going to happen to me. I'm so alone and am so scared!

Hi

I would like to welcome you to the community. This is a very supportive place and you won't be alone.

I'm so sorry for all that you have been going through.

Have you applied for any government benefits? I believe we can collect social security at age 62. Any retirement benefits from your job over the years? Did you put your name on a senior housing list?

I'm glad you are no longer in your car. I would hate to think of you out there alone like that.

Thank you for your kind words, Dolphin. I know God has a good plan for me, I just have to hold on. Going to try to work part time to begin with. Yesterday could not even get out of bed. Depression is so much more than just feeling sad. It can be so debilitating. How are you? I hope it's a good day for you. You seem so kind. Thanks for your warm welcome. It's nice to know I am not alone!

I am so sorry you are going through such a rough time,I know it feels like there’s no light in sight.Try doing little small things for yourself, favorite food,a comforting guided meditation, warm shower,a little prayer for the health of your cat.May your day be brighter, you are not alone

Thank you, Laura Lidia. You have already made my day brighter! I'm very isolated. It's nice to have kind people reach out. I know things will get better. I hope you are doing okay. :)
