Watched 'New life in the wild' and i could identify with this man who set up a dog sanctuary in Thailand, so much of his life mirrored mine, his dedication to the welfare of his dogs is paramount and he has to be applauded, and then daily he goes out to feed hundreds of street dogs, What an extraordinary man. I wish i had his acumen, but in a much lessoned ability i do, but i couldn't brave such an unhospitable terrain eking out a living, living hand to mouth, without all the daily accoutrements that we take for granted.
He said his dogs saved him and I concur that my dogs saved me, they are an absolute blessing.
I found this program thought provoking and humbling.

Throughout January here we have been doing a pantry challenge eating down the contents of the pantry cupboards and the fridge and freezer which is about not taking food for granted and making the most of what's there rather than cribbing over what isn't!
Breakfast was spaghetti hoops on toast and dinner tonight will be a sweet potato soup from the sweet potatoes from the freezer!
Yesterday we had a chickpea and sweet potato curry for dinner that we made on Monday that got reheated and was enjoyable!
I am doing the same with emptying my freezer , its a huge chest freezer and far to big for what i need now, in fact so many things found at the bottom of the freezer have been there for as long as 7 years , but i'm afraid to use things that old so every day i put it out for the birds, and they soon devour the lot. And when its all gone i will offer the freezer to anyone for free.
Good news as this morning we made some dinners out of the frozen veg and cleared out the freezer so I'm happy to say it has been switched off in order to be defrosted and won't be getting put back on until Monday when we restock after the pantry challenge has finished!
Not long to go now until its over on Monday coming!
I so wish I could have a dog again. Brings tears to my eyes writing that.
You could adopt and older dog that's settled and looking for a place to retire. There are so many on shelters that need a home. The older ones break my heart.
