Have you ever had a "Little love?"
At least that's what I call them.
They're the people you cross paths within your daily life who struck something in your heart. But only for a quick flash.
That potential feeling that if you got to know them better, if you went up and said hi, you could maybe see yourself falling in love with them.
Or maybe you have gotten to know them a little bit more, like your coworkers or schoolmates, and you've leaned just a bit over the edge into the "falling in love" pool, but not quite. And then you separate; never thinking of them again as anything more than a fond moment in time.
I've had more of these than I'd like to admit. Whether they were former coworkers of mine, people who would come to my cash register at past jobs, or strangers on a train who would meet my eyes for only a moment.
Even though they would never go anywhere relationship-wise, I still like to hold on to these "Little Love" moments to remind me that there can still be excitement in this world. That there can still be sparks in a world where it feels like it's dark all the time.
