I think remembering the joys of childhood can really help ease an anxious heart, especially in adulthood, where it feels like that carefree childlike heart is disappearing everyday. This post was inspired by another user here (Agora) who posted about how Santa can still make you feel excited.
Let this post be a space where you can reminisce and really think about the things the sparked your heart. Maybe try and revisit those things in your real life, if you can.
For myself, I loved to draw. But I stopped drawing sometime after high school. I’m going to try and start drawing again, and see where my mind takes me.
How about you?

I love the beach too. I booked a hotel room this summer with a beach front view and saw the most beautiful sunrise. One of my old bosses retired out here a few years back. I'd like to do the same.
Me too. We never had holidays when I was a kid , but the annual day trip to the beach was a treat we all looked forward to. I still enjoy going . I don't swim, but still love to roll my trouser legs up and wade into the water lol
Haha, I was (and still am) the same way. I don't think I would love art and creativity if it weren't for TV and books. Did you have a favorite show growing up?
I had tons of favorite shows, too many to list. If you name an old show, chances are I watched it. Recently though, I've been re-watching old episodes of ER. It's weird watching the doctors answer pagers and talk on flip phones.
There's something magical about seeing the strands of sugar wound around the paper stick...I used to daydream of owning a cotton candy machine.
But my diet is already so high in sugar...treating myself to a tub/bag (or three) now and then is preferable because I partake in smaller amounts, seal it back up and save some for later.
Yes there is. Traditionally,it's white or pink over here, with no particular flavour, just the taste of sugar. I don't have a favourite if I buy a bucket. Like you my diet is high in sugar so I have to limit it.
At Halloween, the grocery store had a white-colored variety called "spider web" to be seasonally spooky; it claimed to be sour apple flavored and it was ever-so slightly tart...tasty all the same.
I liked the poem, "longing," you posted -- very vulnerable and open. I hope you'll post more poetry in the forum, as I feel poetry connects all of us to one another. I self-published a chapbook of poetry a few years ago; it's freely available at my Wordpress page:
Running wild in the woods! I loved nature and still do. I liked wading in the ponds looking for polliwogs and salamanders, picking flowers and berries. Watching the seasons come and go always fascinated me.
I love coloring, still do to this day. I have an app just to color when I'm anxious, or when I'm angry it seems to calm me down too. And i also loved SpongeBob 🤣, still DO 🤣. I also have a fascination with sea turtles, I've always loved them
When I was a child, I used to sit very still on the grass and let a bird approach me. I was very lonely, so a couple times I'd pick up a bird in my hands and take it inside my home. mom would think the bird must be injured, until it would get over its fright and fly into the window to get away.
Yes, the bird was okay. I'd release it as soon as its headache went away.
No, I don't do that anymore.
Brought home lots of other animals pretty much that same way. Toads, pollywogs, cats, snakes, dogs...
Writing. I loved words as a child and good writing still captures me. These days I'm pretty much limited to good writing in TV or film. I mostly can't concentrate well enough to read. Do you know how hard it is to find that? Any suggestions for well-written films or shows much appreciated.
Oh, more than anything I loved the little "bubble lights" my parents put on outlr Christmas tree. They seemed magical! My Mum made the most delicious foods and treats!
I was a huge fan of games and being a gamer, but in the years it has intoxicated my way of thinking into validation seeking, thanks to how unstable my life was at the time. My career path also just isn't built to have time for games, as I'm a future optician. Though for the moment after I ground myself with my goals, I'll spare some time with my childhood favorites.
