When anxiety hits me and I feel super nervous and weak. What can I do in those moments to make myself get up and exercise? I sometimes feel like anxiety is forever 😮‍💨

For me it came down to being tired of always being afraid. I just started to push myself there. And soon I started to get confidence in myself. It started off a little at a time.

Eventually anxiety becomes background character. Yeah unfortunately anxiety is apart of us. We need it in a moment to fight our flight situation. For some of us we don't have a release of that energy. It just causes of us to be afraid all of the time. Doom and gloom.

But anxiety can be beaten back. You can get to the point with anxiety where you can tell it to "shut up and mind it's business."

There's some books by Barry McDonagh and Dr. Claire Weekes can help understand anxiety.

Wishing you healing and peace 🫂❤️

Hi Sugabooga (I love the username). I have found exercise is great for me, or movement of any sort. I would be careful that you are not forcing yourself to exercise and feeling worse and more anxiety if you don't exercise. I get down on myself if I don't. That being said, I like easy simple things that get me off my butt. Practicing handstands or cartwheels I find fun.

As Clever Girl wrote, I think anxiety is a part of us, always there. It is not always bad to have anxiety, it means you care, and I find that it is very close to excitement for me too. I want to read the Dr Claire Weekes book but I do love the "Get out of your mind and into your life" book by Steven Hayes; I also really like "Feeling Great" by David Burns. In the Hayes book he talks about the war going on with anxiety, but you don't even have to actually participate. You can just leave the battlefield. In the Burns book he talks about the great things in our lives that come from the way we are and what we wouldn't change and getting anxiety to a level we desire. I think that we "beat" anxiety by realizing that it is part of us and we don't have to avoid it entirely. In fact we can carry it with us and support ourselves through it. I wish you peace, hope, and strength.

Spot on. Any publication that advocates acceptance of the symptoms is worth its weight in gold.Usual caveats apply inasmuch that any issue (medical / personal circumstances etc) that is causing inappropriate levels of anxiety need to be tackled first.

Many sufferers only issue is trying to cope (fighting) with the symptoms of anxiety itself. You know, scary thoughts and feelings. They have long since forgotten what might have caused it or have no idea!

Second, Cl3v3r-G1rl (as usual) has listed some good advice.

Finally, are you on meds or seeing a doctor, psych, or therapist ATM?

Sugabooga48, Have you tried vacuuming your house?? The energy involved in

pushing that vac on the rug will cause you to expel the overload of adrenaline.

It will also help in bringing in the oxygen your body is so deprived of during

anxiety. It's a quick form in regenerating your body, calming your mind and

making your house clean. lol :) xx

Thanks dear for the wishes. I have also found when you get that feeling

like the solar plexus won't allow you to take a deep breath, vacuuming

also works. Stretching the muscles as well as eliminating the stress.

I like your idea of music making it fun. Let's Dance :) xx

Folks on this site are wonderful. There is so much truth in what is posted here and some ideas I hadn’t considered as well.
