I have been experiencing anxiety for most of my life. When I was a teenager it would appear as a social anxiety. I managed to find my way through it in my twenties but I realized that it never really disappeared. Being uncomfortable in groups was just how it was for me.
Depression has periodically been around for a few years. I have experienced trauma and I attribute many of the symptoms to it. Through CBT I am learning how thoughts can influence emotions and how impactful they are. I’m working on a healthier mindset.

It could be that you have c-ptsd from the trauma you experienced. I had social anxiety and healed a lot of it but still continued to have issues and then found out about c-ptsd/trauma and found a therapist that specialized in treating trauma/c-ptsd. He used emdr therapy as part of the therapy which was very helpful for me. A lot of my anxiety/depression was from my repressed emotions, anger and rage and acknowledging them and processing them helped me heal.
