Sleep ideas.

I've pretty much tried everything tonight to sleep with no luck. I can't stop coughing long enough to sleep and the pleurisy is at a dull roar. Supposed to be in prison in 4 hours....somethings gotta give

I’m right here awake after about 3 hours rest. Wish I knew the magic way to get to sleep.

I'm battling a respiratory infection and pleurisy. I have hit the 24 hour mark of being awake. I'm supposed to go to prison in 4 hours for a 12 hour shift. My chest feels like it's been stomped on repeatedly for at least the last 2 hours. I know if I don't go they'll be short handed...I know that if I l go in I will be an even bigger liability to my team than if I call out.

Sounds like that in the long run, going in sick could cause more problems than staying home to get well. Either you could get even more sick by not getting enough rest and could have to be out longer or you could be contagious and others could get sick and possibly not be able to work if their case is worse. You can force yourself to go but someone else might not be able to. Shorthanded for a short time is better than really shorthanded for a longer period of time.

You and your body deserve to be able to rest and recover :)

Not only that but it would end up being up for 36 hours. And in my profession that would not be good on anyone. I also become a liability because my focus would be obscured. Slow response times..wanting to sleep and not paying attention

My longest awake was 53 hours. It was awful and when I finally did sleep I woke up feeling bad. Call in sick. I was able to go back to sleep my listening to a meditation audio.

I tried that. My issue last night was every time I'd start to fall asleep I'd start coughing from the congestion

I hope you are home sleeping 😴 you're sleep deprived already and under the weather and mentally compromised with pain and discomfort. Yes, it's not a good idea to put yourself or coworkers in peril. I don't know if being short-handed is better or worse in your work conditions...but it doesn't sound like an ideal situation.

Ideal vs I Deal...I try to remind myself of this frequently. Are the conditions ideal for success or am I just dealing with the less than perfect circumstances and mental load it's producing for me.

It's a toss up. I just need to be careful with unscheduled leave

And to answer your question....especially right now.....it's more I deal

Rest, hydrate 😷 and hopefully you'll turn the corner soon... Ideal conditions ahead, my friend 🙏

In some aspects. In some aspects it will always be I deal

have you tried putting a towel over head with a pot og hot water? I have asthma and when I have a cold this helps me breathe better. Going to work is a bad idea! You’re no good to anyone in this condition. Maybe a trip to the ER is needed. They could possibly give you a breathing treatment.

Was just at the er. When I was there everything was all locked up. Starting to not cough as much. Things are getting better...just not as fast as I want.

I’m glad you went in. Now you can relax a little bit knowing it is getting better.
