Hi glad I found this group. I have had depression and anxiety for a long time 2000.

Dx Generalized Anxiety Disorder Effexor worked after going through a few meds as my stress level climbed my doctor at the time gave me Ativan .5 as needed added to Effexor it worked. (That was in 2000) fast forward to now post Covid stress etc I asked my current doctor to write for Ativan he said I would have to go to "behavioral help" counseling and medication follow that he won't follow those meds I've been inbetween jobs trying to pay rent constant pivoting from Covid stuff. Getting appointments for 2 counselors I have to see one before the other the time lapsing is like months apart it's causing me so much stress I want to just give up! I don't feel I need a counselor for generalized anxiety first off another kicker is that when I did get to speak to one of their "behavior health people he said I have a Adjustment Disorder

So now I'm laughing like ok they know I have an adjustment disorder and they can't see where I may have a issue getting myself some relief fast rather then jumping through hurdles of counseling and medication management!!?? Sorry need to vent this crap!

I guess I want to ask if there is a simpler solution then going to counseling I'm 62 I ve had counseling I just need my Ativan back. My old dr originally gave it to me he retired and died . Im on state insurance is that the protocol for regular insurance s

You might find a psychiatrist that is in your state health insurance network and talk with them to see If they would prescribe the med you need. They may also be able to provide you with a more accurate diagnosis and are generally more knowledgable then a doctor.
