High guys it’s Shnookie. Since COVID has begun, I’ve been having Blood Pressure issues. Today a day off from my part-time Jobs my BP went up to 153 on top. I know this is due to anxiety and probably other factors financial stress and gaining a lot of wait in the last year. It’s very Frustrating. I popped an extra Clonozapem which I am allowed to do if I’m under a lot of stress and my BP goes up. This is very frustrating. Thank U very much 4 letting me vent.
Hugs 🤗 S

Thank U for asking. I just took my BP and its 141/85 The top went down by 12 points which is a really good thing. The thing however about me taking Clonozapem is that because it is a powerful class 2 drug I cannot drive a car when I take it. That is why I always take it b4 I go to sleep. I'll chill out today and hopefully my BP will drop even lower hugs S
Thank you for your good advice. Fortunately the Clonozapem I took lowered my top from 153 to 141 and with the deep breathing exercises and support from this group, my numbers should even go lower. hugs S
if your BP only spikes to 153 - that's not necessarily a problem. as long as the top number isn't alarmingly high - then the bottom number (diastolic) may be the more important value.
have you consulted with a dr? even a standing BP of 132 may be considered too high; depending on your age, and medical history. the AHA (am heart ass) updated their guidelines not too long ago - and a systolic reading of 132 technically qualifies as stage 1 hypertension. the new guidelines LIKE to see readings LESS THAN 120/80 (on both numbers).
but you should really discuss this w/ your dr for your specific situation.
Thank U 4 your good advice. I was taking 2.5 mg Amlodopine and my nurse practitioner just upped it to 5 mg daily. The problem is that I am on Medi Cal - Medi Caid and I don’t have a regular doctor just a series of interns. But now with COVID I will discuss the issue of hypertension withmy nurse practitioner. Also my body is very sensitive and I don’t feel well when I hit 140
on top. I also gained a lot of during the first year of COVID. I have been procrastinating about losing this weight but this is the time to start losing it. Have a great weekend.
i'm really glad to hear you're on top of your BP! and since high BP is the "silent killer" cause most people can't feel it... you're lucky to be so attuned to your body!
i'm sure you know that weight can be another risk factor for hi BP... so there's no time like the present to start... good for you for thinking all that through!
Thank U for the supportive wishes. Even in my youth, when I would go out with friends 4 a fun night out, I could never have more than2 drinks because my body was so sensitive I knew when to quit. This was b4 I started taking psychotropic meds. I haven’t had a drink in years
The psychotropic cocktail that I've been on since 1998 has been tweaked over the years. FYI, Clonozapem the anti-anxiety med has an after life. If U R ever prescribed it, be very careful how U take it. For instance, in the day b4 COVID, if I was out on a Saturday night and arrived home at 1 AM, I learned that I could not take the full 5 mg dosage because the after effects I felt could be until 12 PM and mess up my day. I'm not telling people to play around with their meds but they should should have a working relationship with their shrink, psychologist, etc. to regulate their meds. If I remember other things about my meds, I will put them in posts later on
PS it's Shnookie again some of the meds take a little time maybe a month or so to kick in. The problem with me is that with all the angst I have right now, back rent, figuring out if I should file for early SS, etc. the pills only work to a certain extent. That is why I have learned cognitive therapy, joined this group, talk to peer mentors on NAMI, do deep breathing and positive visualization and listening to music I enjoy to get thru especially difficult times
Great step forward . I received help and much needed support from NAMI a few years ago ,I became a Volunteer in 1996 as a Peer Moderator and Mediator for Focus Groups and we do Zoom and Tele Conference now due to COVID .You're in a good place .Wishing you hope ,kindness and a breakthrough to continue your wonderful journey called life .
i've been thinking about becoming a peer moderator also!
i absolutely love the groups - i've met some of the most wonderful and caring people! so i already know that much about you just because you were involved with them!!
Good for you .go for it ,this is a great place to be ,and it's so rewarding to help others ,especially those who have helped you ,peace ,joy and hope I send to you !
...been there...pretty sure I'm there, right now...I am trying to use a lot of citric acid-type foods and cool water...seems to always help a little, but I hear you. The weight thing is a real problem...hoping that you get to feeling better. Blessings!
Thank U for your good suggestion. I am taking a small dosage of 5 mg of
Amplodopine for my BP issues. The view from your backyard is so peaceful and beautiful. I’m going to incorporate this picture into my visualization exercises.
