Hello, I am new to this site and decided to take a chance due to struggling badly tonight with anxiety, coupled with trying to prevent a panic attack from happening. I started looking for anxiety support groups in my area without any luck and wanted to try this online route.

I’m 34 and suffered my first panic attack at the age of 15. I was terrified and at the time, had no clue what was wrong with me. All I knew was that I was scared, confused, and felt like I’d never be happy again or live a normal life. Unfortunately, these feelings still come in waves for me and the last month has been really bad.

I’ve been self isolating from close friends and family because I don’t want them worrying about me or treating me differently because I’m struggling. I have a handful of apps I rely on for help, as well as tools I’ve learned from various mental health counselors over the years, but it’s just really bad right now and I am hoping feeling less alone may help, as I type this through tear filled eyes.

Thanks to anyone in advance for your kind words, encouragement, or understanding.

You are not alone and you are in the right place. I am sorry you have been having such a hard time the last month. I can relate to isolating. What apps are you using? Do you have a mental health counselor now?

I have panic attacks too. There is help. I used to have them bad, but now they are fewer and farther between. 4 years. You can do things to help reduce their power over you, but it will take work. I will write more later, but my first suggestion is that you stop isolating from friends and family. All people have struggles, they will only love you more. As you are more open about your situation, the panic attacks will have less power over you and they will be become weaker and farther between. Also read a lot of the posts, I suggest Agora1. she is great

Hi Newbie (love your username) :)

I've certainly cried my share of tears along the way. Many years of therapy as well

as developing methods and tools to help me through. It sounds like what you may

be experiencing this last month is free floating anxiety. It can happen when something

in our lives gets out of control and we immediately go into overdrive with our thoughts

causing Adrenaline to never really go away.

Using the tools you have can help immensely. Remembering all the things you have

been told in therapy can be put into play with a little positive attitude from you.

You see we are never really out of control. The power of the Mind/Body Connection

is within us. Meditation and Breathing is my method of choice.

Addressing the issue causing this new wave of anxiety will help settle things down.

I'm glad you are here with us. Welcome new friend :) xx
