Does it get better?

Do you ever feel like there’s something wrong with you and everyone else is normal? I have a new job at a call center and, I feel like I have to physically force myself to speak to people. It’s so terrible that I get depressed thinking about talking to people, and going back to work when the weekend ends. It’s just so overwhelming and it takes a lot for me even to speak. I don’t know what to do to make it better, but I don’t want to get fired.

I read somewhere that about 4% of the global population suffers with anxiety, this is 265 million people. You are normal and you are not alone in this. Look at me, it's 12:40 AM where I live and I cannot sleep because of panic attacks, it sucks, but I'm as normal as you and the next person.

It's not easy but never let the idea that you are not normal dominate you. Have you talked to a doctor, or therapist?

Thank you, it’s so hard to remember because so many people tell me that, or make me feel that way. Yes I have, they just suggest focusing my energy on other things or objects, when I’m stressed. Or to put that into a fidget toy. I don’t know it doesn’t help, I’m already on medication and I know upping the dosage won’t help.

I would think, “ you pay me money 💰. I will speak 🗣️ for you. Call centres are like broken record players , I’m not sure if you know what that is. Same couple of basic calls regarding accounts and a couple of different personalities types when it comes to customers. I remember once having a job, where my trainer would say, “ cherryfizz say “HI” to the customer and ask how they are doing. The trainer would say this in front of the customer. So like a retarded person I would sound like a dolphin 🐬 and be like, “ HI..ii, how was your weekend? What transaction can I help you with today?” Then my trainer would give me a star. I was 32.

Yah that’s true, I guess it is the same thing and types of people. I kind of wish I would get encouragement like that.

I am a concierge/receptionist at a Senior living community. Some days, I don’t want to go to work. I visualize myself as an actress. I practice how I am going to answer the phone. By the time I get to work, I hit the ground running. U R in a position to provide callers with important information. I’m not saying this is always easy. Practice scenarios at home. You have the power and ability to do this.

Yah lol I’ve never been good at pretending or putting on a fake personality. An for some reason when I practice, I still lock up, idk why because I’m just looking at myself.

I don’t think of it as a fake personality. Rather it’s part of my persona that I use. It’s a coping mechanism. I’m truly sorry that U R going thru this. I’m here 4 U. And trust me, I have my bosses to deal with

Thanks I’ll try not to even though I’m looking for another job. But I think I’ll try that hotline, I didn’t know about it.

NAMI is all over the United States. Since COVID hit in early 2020, I’ve been using their services. They R peer mentors. They give U 15 minutes beach time to discuss the mental health issue of your choice.
