I had lexapro for my depression and anxiety but within few weeks it stopped working on me. I told my gp about it and he prescribed a new one for me. It will be good idea to ask from your doctor with all details. He might able to assist you.
If it isn't helping may be try to get second opinion.
I know there is trading covered by insurance that will lost what drugs you may react poorly to and which. Ight help and that should help you bc these digs work so differently on different minds. I do t ha e exostievyeitg those but failed so many and I want you to know you can get gene testing medicare and Medicaid cover it. Ask your provider and I'll get company name when I have time . In my thoughts,me
One of the companies is GeneSight(site?)I had it done a few years ago(Medicare did not cover mine) and it was so off base. It showed that meds I had previously had success with wouldn't work and ones that should work didn't. After decades of meds became treatment resistant. Luckily my therapist recommended TMS and I am now med free except for a very occasional Ativan.
None helped .e either and some made me very sick .prozac worked when I was younger but I have health issues and older I got a motor disorder. I was going to try tms but there are mixed reviews and it's hard to get to bc of physical challenges I have
I had several meds that did help. I started Prozac shortly after it came out in '87 and it worked great for about 10 years; after it stopped working was switched to Celexa which also worked great for about 10 years, then were others over the years, some sort of helped, others didn't. The last few I tried either didn't work or gave me intolerable side effects. Am thankful my therapist recommended TMS. Have had 3 rounds, the results of the first two each lasted about 6 months and the 3rd is still going strong after a year and a half. At one point before my 2nd round it literally saved my life. Obviously as with any treatment results vary but I know more people that it helped than didn't help. I certainly understand that physical challenges of getting there may prevent you from trying it.. I hope you are able to find something that helps you. (BTW, I am in my late 60's)
TMS is transcranial magnetic stimulation, a noninvasive treatment using magnetic pulses to stimulate a part of the brain to reduce/eliminate depressive symptoms. Treatment is typically 5x/wk for 6-7 weeks with each treatment about 20 minutes. It feels like tapping against your skull (kind of like a woodpecker). During treatment you are awake and afterwards can go about your day. Some experience an irritation on their head but it doesn't last. Most start feeling better after a few weeks, but it varies as do final results. As I stated above the results of my first 2 rounds each lasted about 6 months and my 3rd round is still going strong after a year and a half.
I've been on luvox for a few years, it's really helped tamp down my anxiety to the point I've been able to use therapy techniques to mostly be ok. It's biggest help in think was breaking the repetitive anxiety thought cycles. It's also used for OCD so that night have something to do with that
Remeron 7.5 but for depression you need a higher dose though I suggest starting low . 7.5 is used for insomnia . I once best pmdd with remeron but it can cause weight gain. I am anorexic and was hoping to gain weight but in this dose I did not
I have been on Celexa for 6 years. Lexapro and Zoloft did not help me. I have Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It has helped me over the years tremendously. I do take a very low dose of Klonopin at night as needed for Night Terrors. Definitely speak with your doctor in case you take any that might I interfere...I have no side wffey
