Opinions about medication
Yes I have. Personal choice and advice from doctor is best way.
I was given medication but I don’t know why I feel so hesitant to take it I just fear of the side effects
You have to weigh up the potential benefits and risks.
Bear in mind that the accompanying leaflet will have every side effect known to man ( and cat)
With PTSD, one characteristic is the desire to keep control. Another is to be vigilant.
Because of my PTSD, I refused meds for years, believing that feeling and knowing was better than not feeling and knowing.
I did ok, probably suffered too much, but felt that I was in control, and I needed that.
When I finally agreed to meds, I was very fortunate that the first one I was given was Effexor, and it worked very well.
I took away the seemingly endless pain in my heart that feeling and knowing brought.
I don’t think I would have done as well without it.
Then when tragedy struck, and my coping skills were not as effective, my doc gave my small amounts of clonazepam. It knocked the edges off my low points, so it did work, but I could tell it wasn’t useful.
Knowing and not feeling is not am improvement, for me anyway.
When CBD came to the mass market I didn’t think too much about it until I was literally in my car on my way to my doctor’s appointment.
I was listening to PBS radio and the topic was CDB.
When I went in, I asked my doc if she thought it would benefit me and she agreed with great enthusiasm.
So I started a daily dose, organic Irwin’s, the next day and I soon weaned myself from the clonazepam.
For me, Effexor and CBD are very beneficial.
Each person needs their own doctor’s judgement to guide them in the selection of the best meds.
I’m lucky I have the best doc in the county, and her judgment is great for me personally.
It takes trust.
I hope you have trust in your doc.
I look back now and see how I spent so much time battling anxiety that I guess I wish I had accepted the meds sooner. But I could not see that then the way I do today.
I did my best.
I wish you well and send my hope that you get a great med the first one you try.
Love
I use marijuana because it improves my appetite, mood, sleep, and reduces anxiety and intrusive thoughts. I cannot trust pills while it is still legal to engineer them to be addictive.
However, don't just "try" medicinal marijuana. Talk to your doctor, do some research, figure out if you think it's a good choice for you, because a medicine that works for one might be terrible for another.
