I have suffered from depression and anxiety all my life, have never taken antidepressants and have tried to cope, some days are better than others. Lately, I have been tormented with feelings of guilt from bad decisions I had made in the past. I try to avoid the negative thoughts but they keep coming back and as a result I become very anxious and depressed. I don’t like to discuss my feelings with my husband and I am so glad I found this forum. The Doctor suggested an antidepressant either Celexa or Lexapro. Any recommendation?

Lexapro and Celexa reviews
Hi and welcome Lokiabi,
Sometimes nature needs a little help to get our brains working better so antidepressants are prescribed by a doctor.
The best thing to do is read the information available on the internet about each medication or talk with a pharmacist to decide which medication you will try first.
Your doctor is going to work with you if they ask your preference rather than prescribing their favourite drug.
Each person who has the same diagnosis has a different body chemistry so the results and side effects cannot be guaranteed.
You will need to be patient while the medication works up to it's full benefit, usually 4-6 weeks. You don't need to tolerate the side effects, if any for that long. If the side effects are intolerable go right back to the doctor and try the other medication.
Wishing you the best as you work to get better, from me in Australia 🦘

First and foremost - Welcome.
Second - It's kinda hard to say when pill is better, because they're kinda similiar, but people have different side effects. (some have hardly any sides after they get used to it)
.
All I can say is give one a try, and let your Doc or psych know about the sides that you are having.
Either way, I wish you nothing but the best, and remember that we are here.
Take care.
